Most kids would think of running away when someone is planning to attack them. However, running won't always be the answer for the protection of your child against assailants. This automatic reflex of every child who is afraid might not be applicable to all circumstances. There are times that your child needs to defend his own self and fight back. All parents don't want their child to get hurt. But with proper training and program, your kid could actually acquire the skills, techniques and knowledge in martial arts in a short period of time as long as the child is also willing to learn and participate. Teaching the kids about self-defense can be quiet stressful in the part of the trainer since younger ones are very naughty and at times hard-headed. All you need to gain is their respect and cooperation thought their attention span is really short. We cannot compare the strength of a child to and adult but this power can be enhanced if training will be done continuously compared to those kids who haven't undergone any training in martial art at all. As a parent, you may try buying some movies for kids such as the Karate Kid, Kung Fu Panda, Jackie Chan and a lot more. It will help them contain the idea of its advantages when you will obtain the skills. This could be a good start of motivating them in order to cooperate and learn. Most children have this common notion that fighting with one another is a bad act. When you are promoting self-protection, you must incorporate to their young and fresh minds the real essence of self-defense. They must understand first that it is being used to keep you away from any possible harm from attackers and not to start a fight without a cause. There are different approaches in teaching self-defense to children. If your child is already capable of identifying them, let him choose which program he wants to enroll. Always keep in mind that the willingness of your child is very important to attain positive results at the end of the training. Frontal kick, side kick, punch and flying kicks are only few examples of martial arts tactics. Your kid will be able to learn more as he progresses with the program. Body pain is very common during the first few weeks of training. Your child might get discouraged about this discomfort so be always there to support him. Give him enough explanation that he could understand well about the cause of his muscle pains. You can also assure your child that any discomforts are only temporary since the muscles were stretch and forced to move compared to its normal motion every day. Never scold your kid if you think that he is not doing well in his training. Remember that they have short attention span and they should not be forced to do something when they are not willing at all. It would only create a conflict in the future. Let him become interested to martial arts with his own simple ways. Keeping the security and safety of a child means a lot to parents. Therefore, as parents, let your child explore the world of self-defense so that he could have other options when facing people with bad intentions aside from running away.
