Google, through its efforts, has ef ciently removed some of these Trojans from the Play Store. Furthermore, it continues to discover hidden ones like the Judy malware. Judy, which infected both Android and IOS devices, had attacked close to 36 million Android devices by the time it was discovered.

Any popular app can still be at-risk of being copied by such means. However, before downloading apps from the Google Play Store, you can go through a few necessary steps: Avoid third-party app stores. Despite the fact Google Play Store examines apps, these viruses are still found in the play store. As such, malware is more likely to be found in third-party app stores, which are rarely vetted apps. Hence, it is desirable to avoid such app stores.
