In order to select a target site where the boundary between public and private space is ambiguous, public and private spaces are divided into non-residential facilities and residential facilities. Each are bordered in black and painted in red respectively. Residential facilities were expressed by gradually darkening in the order of general houses, row houses, and apartments. The main street is indicated in yellow, and plaza or gathering area with a specific shape is indicated in green.

Find a block with 5 or more rows of lots. Lots surrounded by other lots is the best location for newly built buildings to permeate the existing context.

Find the block that best mixed with various industries - design, IT, and publishing.

Find a site directly adjacent to the main street among the blocks satisfying 1 and 2.

A Conceptual silkscreen of the 'Second facade' made by a newly built building surrounded by the existing context. It is a simulated view on the main road to the selected site.

Living Library answers to three questions as follow. What kind of public facility is a library? ( Libraries can no longer stay in public facilities through books. Libraries are defined as public facilities that share 'knowledge activities'. ) What is the architectural form of sharing? What is the method to maximize the pulicity of the library, the sharing activities occur in the library?

es of private and sharing is returned to the user,

n maximize its effect.

So, Living Library concerns as follow.

Finally, at Living Library,

The boundary between public and private must be broken down, and a “sharing" space must be designed in a “shared” place, in order to maximize the effect of sharing.

'Intellectual products' - including books circulate following the life cycle of all forms of it, from 'production to recording, preservation, reading, and education'. One book is the seed of another.

Break down the boundaries of architecture by using the hyper-connection system and expand its influence in order of 'dot-line-plane'. It promotes regional revitalization by strengthening the connectivity of major anchors arranged along the main street of the region. The convergence of different programs (industryresidence,living-library) breaks down the boundary between shared and private library.

These three different bases, along main street - Donggyo-ro - affect region wider than just the site, Hongdae. Users soaked to the library on their dialy movings, stay at the library for one night, and live in the library. Users are confused as to whether they are staying in the library or whether there is a library in the place where they are staying.

Expecting change after the switch between road - lot facing river Most riverside context in Seoul are planned in the order of 'RIVER - ROAD - LOT' for the efficiency of transportation. Considering the river - Woo-ee stream - as an asset to the village, the road is not the best context very next to the river. The riverfront lands are planned through the 'ROAD - LOT' exchange, expecting to become a new type of riverside scene in Seoul. The river, the land facing the river, and the newly built building on it could all be used as the village's assets.

31

urban regeneration 4th grade

From diagram to actual section Keeping conceptual 'sectional diagram' as the final, actual section was the main design goal to raise ground flow into the second floor - with village community facilities - and to maximize the panoramic view on the upper floor. As a way to distribute the riverfront view more evenly but with diversity, units were arranged as horizontally narrow but vertically deep. The vertically narrow units are also designed considering expandability, can be combined with one another when inner walls are removed.
