Greetings

Dear Friends and Supporters,

As we look back on the past year, we are proud to share with you the impact that the Doris Mollel Foundation has made in the lives of premature babies in Tanzania. 2022 was a year of significant progress and achievement, and we are grateful for your support in helping us to make a difference.

As you may know, premature birth is a leading cause of death and disability for children under the age of 5 worldwide In Tanzania, the situation is particularly dire, with a high rate of premature birth and a lack of access to specialized care for these fragile newborns This is an issue that has long been close to our hearts at the Doris Mollel Foundation, and we are dedicated to doing everything we can to address this pressing need.

Over the past year, we have been working tirelessly to make a difference in the lives of premature babies in Tanzania. With the help of our dedicated team and generous supporters like you, we have made significant strides in improving the survival and quality of life of these precious little ones.

Our major accomplishments this past year were donating medical equipment to 23 hospitals, launching the Climate Change Coalition, providing health care coverage to all premature babies under the Association of Tanzania Insurers, and opening neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) at Maswa and Kagera hospitals The NICU has already made a big difference in the lives of countless premature babies and allowed us to provide specialized care for premature infants that was previously unavailable in the region, and we have seen a significant increase in survival rates as a result. In addition to providing specialized care at the NICU, we have also been working to improve the overall quality of care for premature babies in the country.

This has included training healthcare professionals on the latest best practices, providing essential medical equipment and supplies, and working with local hospitals to develop protocols and guidelines for the care of premature infants We believe that by strengthening the overall healthcare system and increasing the capacity to care for premature babies, we can have a lasting impact and help save more lives

While we are proud of the progress we have made, we know that there is still much work to be done. Too many premature babies in Tanzania still do not have access to the care they need, and we are committed to doing everything we can to change that. In the coming year, we plan to expand our reach and impact even further. We will continue to work with local hospitals to improve the quality of care for premature babies.

In addition, we will be introducing a new focus area: Children and Climate Change This will involve raising awareness and understanding of the pressing issues related to climate change and its effects on maternal and child health Our efforts will include creating recommendations for government, private sector, and philanthropy to support climate change interventions on maternal and child health, identifying gaps in and conducting research, developing guidance and frameworks for the private sector, and demonstrating and evidencing the links between climate change and maternal and child health.

2022 was a year of impact for the Doris Mollel Foundation, and we are grateful for your support in helping us to make a difference. Your generosity allows us to continue this important work, and we are deeply grateful for your partnership in this cause

Sincerely,

REVANIA DANIAL a hardworking mother who lived in Mvungwe Village in Kasulu, Kigoma, Tanzania. She spent her days busy with her daily chores, including checking her maize farm. One day, while she was inspecting her crops, she suddenly felt a sharp pain in her stomach. Realizing that she was going into labor, she quickly made her way back to her village. However, the journey was not easy. The path was rough and uneven, and the pain became unbearable.

Despite this, she pushed through and eventually gave birth to a premature baby. As she finally arrived back in her village, she found that there were no medical facilities available to help her with the birth. In her village, there were no proper equipment for premature babies, so she had to relocate to another nearby hospital with better facilities Thanks to the medical equipment donated by the Doris Mollel Foundation, now her baby will receive the care they need and other mothers in similar predicaments will also have access to better resources

Stories of resilience and hope are made possible through access to medical equipment and interventions from people like you Together, we are providing more families with proper care and the resources they need to thrive and live healthy, fulfilling lives Your support is making a real difference in the lives of mothers and their babies, and we are grateful for your generosity. Thank you for helping to create a brighter future for these families.
