Overall, Seminole Boosters, Inc. provided more than $21.3 million in cash to the athletics department to help fund scholarships and operations, plus funded $10.3 million related to athletic facilities on behalf of the department. Please note, the revenue numbers expressed on this page include pledges and do not reflect cash collected during this period. Additionally, the expenses include cash spent during the year that could have been collected during a previous period.

The annual fund continued to serve as the fundraising priority in 2023 with an emphasis on increasing overall membership. We continued our plan of personal outreach to former members and qualified prospects to grow annual membership. The 2023 annual fund drive had three main objectives: Increase the renewal rate to 90% or higher, increase the number of new members, and increase members in Leon County. The annual fund grew in both pledges and members in 2023!

DOAK CAMPBELL STADIUM REDEVELOPMENT

The primary objective of this project is to maintain Doak Campbell Stadium as one of the best venues in all collegiate sports. The results of numerous surveys revealed 91% of our donors and fans support enhancing the game day experience and improving seat comfort. The architectural firm Populous will design the game day amenities desired by fans and address infrastructure needs of our historic facility.

We are currently in the preselling phase of this project which is pacing ahead of schedule. Construction will take place starting in December 2023 through July 2025, finishing in time for our home opener in August 2025.

ENDOWMENT REPORT

The Seminole Boosters endowment is ever-growing and consists of 756 funds that ensure the financial stability of the Athletic Department. The contributions from those funds are invested collectively through Seminole Boosters, Inc., and a portion of the total earnings is transferred each year to help cover the cost of our athletic scholarships. These funds help Florida State Athletics maintain a competitive edge in attracting and retaining top student-athletes and enable our programs to continue to grow and enrich the lives of all student-athletes who step foot on our campus.

2022-2023 ENDOWMENT HIGHLIGHTS

7/1/22 - 6/30/23:

The Seminole Boosters Athletic Scholarship Endowment increased by $2.1 million to $80.8 million.

Seminole Boosters provided a total of $12.5 million in scholarship funding in 2023 with $2.4 million coming from the Seminole Boosters Athletic Scholarship Endowment.

In the past five years:

The Seminole Boosters Athletic Scholarship Endowment Asset Value increased by $3.2 million.

Over the five-year period ending June 30, 2023, SBI provided $58.2 million for Athletic Dept Scholarships, with $12.1 million coming directly from the Athletic Scholarship Endowment.

Deferred Giving: This endowment report is reflective of current assets under management. Any deferred commitments towards the endowment are currently recognized in the Custodes Lampadis Society and will not receive endowment reports or be included in the endowment total until realized.

Real Estate: Endowment real estate was appraised during the 2023 fiscal year and all changes in value have been recorded.

Market Value of Endowment: Value of the endowment at a point in time.

Total Gifts Received: The sum of gifts received for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2023.

Net Appreciation: The realized and unrealized gains and losses earned by the Seminole Boosters Athletic Scholarship Endowment Fund for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2023.

Net Expenditures: The expenditures and Seminole Boosters, Inc. administrative fee paid for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2023.

UNRESTRICTED GIVING

Unrestricted commitments are more important than ever before in helping to fund the priorities of the Athletic Department. Unrestricted funds provide the flexibility for the Vice President and Director of Athletics to identify areas where they can have the greatest impact. Unlike facility or endowment gifts, unrestricted commitments are not earmarked for a specific designation and can therefore go to work immediately in core areas to support our student-athletes and coaches as well as the athletic facilities. They can also help to cover operating costs that are accrued throughout the academic year. By providing Florida State with a steady stream of discretionary monies, unrestricted dollars enable the Athletic Department to fund recurring costs and to address unforeseen challenges as they arise.

The Seminole Boosters Coaches Clubs provides alumni and fans of Florida State Athletics an exclusive opportunity to direct their financial support to the head coach and team of their choice. Bowden Society gifts focus on funding new athletic facility construction, the enhancement of current athletic facilities, as well as contributing to the endowment fund, and are separate from annual fund donations and seat related requirements. Although the Bowden Society is named in honor of our legendary football coach, Bobby Bowden, this Society will help fund facilities and scholarships for all 20 varsity sports.

Just as Bobby Bowden transformed Florida State Athletics, gifts to the Bowden Society will ensure competitive excellence now and in the future.

Student-athletes have demanding schedules, but the support staff at FSU helps us stay focused on class work and organization while trainers and nutritionist do their best to help us perform our best throughout the year.

And coaches help each athlete prepare and improve while motivating us to succeed. None of this would be possible without Seminole Boosters.

Being the quarterback at FSU was a dream come true, and I’m incredibly thankful for the support I’ve received from Seminole Boosters throughout my career.
