GET A HEAD START ON 2013 ENTERTAINMENT AT SENECA CASINOS NIAGARA FALLS and SALAMANCA, NY – Seneca Casinos will welcome the new year in a big way with six new shows lined up for the month of January. The “American Band,” Grand Funk Railroad, will play at Seneca Niagara Events Center on Jan. 11, followed by a visit by comedian Lewis Black on his current tour, “The Rant Is Due,” on Jan. 26. In addition, the Bear’s Den Showroom plays host to a diverse lineup of music in January, which includes Little Feat, The Wailers, War and Mac McAnally. Grand Funk Railroad rides the “Locomotion” into Seneca Niagara Events Center on Friday, Jan. 11 for an 8 p.m. show. The high-energy band was one of the top rock acts of the 1970s, and hits like “We’re An American Band” and “Some Kind of Wonderful” still play on the airwaves today. Tickets start at a bargain-priced $20 and go on sale Friday, Nov. 16, at noon. Grand Funk Railroad recently performed in front of a sold-out crowd at Seneca Allegany Events Center in March 2012. Lewis Black, a stand-up comedian who is noted for his rants, brings his tour, “The Rant Is Due,” to Seneca Niagara Events Center on Saturday, Jan. 26, for an 8 p.m. show. Black appears frequently on Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” and won two GRAMMY® Awards for Best Comedy Album in 2007 and 2011. As described in his bio, Black’s live performances provide “a cathartic release of anger and disillusionment for his audience” and “compelling points about the absurdity of our world.” Tickets start at $40 and are on sale now.
Little Feat returns to the Bear’s Den Showroom nearly two years to the day on Saturday, Jan. 5. The eclectic group provides a mix of California rock, funk, folk, jazz, country, rockabilly, New Orleans swamp boogie and more for a sound that will make listeners want to get up and dance. Tickets start at $50 and are on sale now. On Saturday, Jan. 12, Bob Marley’s legendary reggae band The Wailers (tickets starting at $40) will take the stage. The following weekend on Saturday, Jan. 19, longtime funk band War (tickets starting at $35) will perform hits such as “Low Rider,” “Spill the Wine,” “Why Can’t We Be Friends” and “The Cisco Kid.” Tickets for both The Wailers and War go on sale Monday, Nov. 12, at noon. The Bear’s Den concludes its January concerts on Friday, Jan. 25, with country music singer, session guitarist and songwriter Mac McAnally.
