THE FRAY HEADLINES A HOST OF MODERN MUSIC ACTS COMING TO SENECA NIAGARA CASINO & HOTEL THIS FALL SALAMANCA, N.Y. – Piano-rock band The Fray is just one of many modern acts recently announced for the musical lineup this fall at Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel in Niagara Falls, N.Y. The Denver-based foursome will play the 2,400-seat Seneca Niagara Events Center on Friday, October 25 – the same day that love-ballad extraordinaire Richard Marx performs in the nearby Bear’s Den Showroom. Marx is one of seven recently announced acts this fall at the 440-seat venue, along with other modern-era bands such as Gin Blossoms, Smash Mouth and a rare mid-week, two-night performance by one of Canada’s most-loved Celtic rock bands, Great Big Sea, just before the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday. The Fray come to Seneca Niagara Events Center on Friday, October 25 for an 8 p.m. performance, just on the heels of releasing a fourth studio album. The band’s sound is driven Issac Slade’s lead vocals and piano playing, while drummer Ben Wysocki and guitarists Joe King and Dave Welsh round out the melodies. The Fray burst onto the music scene in 2005 with the double-platinum debut album “How to Save a Life,” which featured the hit title track as well as “(Cable Car) Over My Head” and “Look After You.” In 2009, The Fray’s self-titled second album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard charts and went on to reach gold status behind the hits “You Found Me” and “Never Say Never.” Tickets to see the live performance in Niagara Falls start at $55 and go on sale Tuesday, September 3, at noon. - more -

A late addition to the Bear’s Den Showroom for the end of September is a band familiar with the venue, as Gary Lewis & The Playboys perform twice on Saturday, September 28. The 1960s rockers debuted with an unforgettable No. 1 hit, “This Diamond Ring,” and recorded a number of Top 5 Billboard hits such as “She’s Just My Style” and “Everybody Loves a Clown.” Tickets are on sale now and start at $25 for the 3 p.m. matinee performance and $35 for the 8 p.m. evening performance. Richard Marx plays a later-timed 9 p.m. show at the Bear’s Den Showroom on Friday, October 25. The adult contemporary singer-songwriter scored seven No. 1 hits throughout the late 1980s and early 1990s with singles such as “Hold On to the Nights,” “Right Here Waiting” and “Now and Forever.” Before launching his own solo career, Marx was a successful background singer for artists such as Lionel Richie, Madonna, Whitney Houston, Luther Vandross and Kenny Rogers. Throughout his career, Marx has also written dozens of hit songs for other top artists, such as NSYNC and Keith Urban. Tickets to see an evening filled with love ballads and storytelling start at $40 and go on sale Friday, September 6, at noon. The following night on Saturday, October 26, at 8 p.m., another 1960s band familiar with the Bear’s Den Showroom returns to the venue. The Grass Roots last played in November 2012 to a sold-out crowd, and look to again recreate the magic that led the group to an unprecedented 307 straight weeks on the Billboard charts. Tickets for the psychedelic rock show start at $40 and go on sale Friday, September 6, at noon. Yet another artist at “home” in the Bear’s Den Showroom – Johnny Winter – returns for the first time since August 2011 for an 8 p.m. performance this fall on Saturday, November 2. The blues guitarist and singer also is a successful album producer, having won three Grammy Awards for his work with fellow blues musician Muddy Waters. Tickets to see Winter’s energetic show start at $40 and are on sale now. The Gin Blossoms are the first of three bands coming to the Bear’s Den Showroom this November with peak success in the mid-1990’s and continued staying-power. Their first major-label album in 1992, “New Miserable Experience,” went four-times-platinum behind the hits “Hey Jealousy,” “Found Out About You” and “Until I Fall Away.” The group also recorded the Top 10 hits “Until I Hear It from You” for the movie “Empire Records,” as well as “Follow You Down” from their 1996 album, “Congratulations, I’m Sorry.” Tickets for the 8 p.m. show on Friday, November 15, start at $55 and are on sale now. - more -

Alternative-rock band Smash Mouth comes to the Bear’s Den Showroom the following weekend for an 8 p.m. show on Saturday, November 23. Their first single, “Walkin’ on the Sun,” reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Modern Rock and Adult Top 40 charts in 1997. The group churned out more hits in following years, such as “All Star” and upbeat covers of “Can’t Get Enough of You, Baby” and “I’m a Believer” – which was featured in the hit animated film, Shrek. Tickets to see Smash Mouth live in Niagara Falls start at $55 and go on sale Monday, September 9, at noon. Last but not least, Newfoundland-based Celtic-rock group Great Big Sea will play two midweek shows leading up to the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday, at 8 p.m. on both Tuesday, November 26, and Wednesday, November 27. The band is celebrating its 20th anniversary and continues to draw large crowds throughout Canada and the Great Lakes Region. The 440-seat Bear’s Den Showroom will provide a rare, intimate performance of hit sea shanties such as “Ordinary Day,” “Consequence Free” and “Sea of No Cares,” as well as an unforgettable cover of R.E.M.’s “End of the World.” Tickets for each show start at $65 and go on sale Wednesday, September 4, at noon.
