SENECA ALLEGANY RESORT & CASINO UNVEILS INNOVATIVE GAMING FLOOR DESIGN Resort takes wider approach to guest comfort SALAMANCA, N.Y. – Guests visiting Seneca Allegany Resort & Casino are now enjoying a new dimension of comfort not found on any other gaming floor in the country. The Seneca Nation-owned resort has unveiled an innovative new gaming floor design – one that emphasizes comfort over size, proving that a little bit of space goes a long way. The key to the dramatic makeover was the reconfiguration of slot machine bases and installation of new, larger chairs. Historically, the Seneca Allegany gaming floor featured slots on traditional, 28-inch bases, placing guests just a few feet apart from one another. This is the same set-up that is used at virtually every other casino resort in the country. Gus Tsivikis, general manager at Seneca Allegany Resort & Casino since 2006 and a casino industry veteran of more than 30 years, wanted to do something different for his guests. The answer was a move to 32-inch bases, each with built-in foot rests, and larger chairs that can rotate 360 degrees and can be adjusted forward, backward, and up and down, to provide guests the personal comfort they want.
“Nobody else is doing this,” Tsivikis said. “You look at rows upon rows of slots and think ‘how can we make this experience better?’ We host more than 3 million visitors each year from across the U.S. and Canada. They choose Seneca Allegany for a reason, and we want to make sure they’re comfortable, not just in the hotel and the spa, but on the gaming floor as well.” Tsivikis’ idea left him with a delicate decision. In order to accommodate the extra room, he had to sacrifice the number of machines on the resort’s gaming floor. The decision was to do more with less, and the total number of slot machines at Seneca Allegany was reduced by approximately 100. “Four inches may not sound like a lot, but when you spread that across nearly 2,000 machines, it makes a big difference,” he said. “We already had an excellent gaming floor, but now it’s even better. It looks brand new.” Choosing to reduce the number of machines – a resort’s largest revenue generator - isn’t an idea that would be warmly embraced at most casinos. But, Tsivikis’ plan had the full support of management at Seneca Gaming Corporation. “We have always been a guest-focused company,” said Audrey Oswell, chief operating officer. “Providing our guests a better experience is an investment that will pay off every time. The reaction we are seeing from our guests is all the proof that I need. They’re incredibly happy.” Along with the new, wider slot bases and larger, more comfortable chairs, the make-over also included new carpeting throughout the 68,000-square-foot casino. The project, which was started just before Thanksgiving, was completed in time for guests to enjoy the holiday season and signature upcoming events, including Seneca Allegany’s annual New Year’s Eve celebration. Always a highlight on the calendar, New Year’s Eve at Seneca Allegany Resort & Casino will feature special menus at The Western Door, Patria and Thunder Mountain Buffet. Among the delicacies being planned by the resort’s top-notch Culinary team are sea bass and filet mignon with lobster in The Western Door, a 20-oz. T-Bone steak with pesto shrimp and lobster ravioli and seared scallops at Patria, and an extra-special bounty at Thunder Mountain Buffet that includes seafood, prime rib, carved turkey, sliced ham, and a host of Italian, Asian and
American favorites. The festive atmosphere will also include live music at The River Bar, located adjacent to the casino floor.
