SETH MEYERS, THE POINTER SISTERS, CHEAP TRICK JOIN THE SENECA CASINOS ENTERTAINMENT LINEUP NIAGARA FALLS AND SALAMANCA, N.Y. – Comedy, classic R&B and timeless rock are all coming to the Events Centers at Seneca Casinos for late fall and early winter. Just added to the November entertainment lineup at Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel in Niagara Falls are Seth Meyers and The Pointer Sisters, while Cheap Trick closes out 2013 with a December 29 show at Seneca Allegany Casino & Hotel in Salamanca. The head writer and longtime actor with “Saturday Night Live” and soon-to-be new “Late Night” host on NBC in 2013, Seth Meyers, comes to Seneca Niagara Events Center in Niagara Falls USA for an evening of stand-up comedy on Friday, November 8, at 8 p.m. Tickets for the show start at $40 and go on sale Wednesday, October 2, at noon. In 2011, Meyers won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics for host Justin Timberlake’s musical monologue. In his continuing role on the show, he is best known as the anchor for the sketch “Weekend Update,” which parodies current world news. On February 24, 2014, Meyers is slated to replace fellow “Saturday Night Live” cast-member Jimmy Fallon as the host of “Late Night” on NBC. On the Saturday immediately following the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday, legendary R&B diva trio The Pointer Sisters bring a collection of up-tempo hits to the Seneca Niagara Events Center. Tickets for the 8 p.m. performance on Saturday, November 30 start at $35 and go on sale Wednesday, October 9, at noon. The group recorded more than a dozen Top 20 hits from their debut in 1973 through 1985, including radio mainstays such as “Jump (for My Love),” “I’m So Excited” and “He’s So Shy.” Two of the tracks from the triple-platinum 1983 “Break Out” album – “Jump” and “Automatic” – won Grammy Awards. The Pointer Sisters have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, were inducted into the Soul Train Hall of Fame
and were recently inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame. Original members Ruth and Anita Pointer, along with Sadako Johnson – Ruth’s granddaughter – continue to perform for audiences worldwide. Classic rock band Cheap Trick, a perennial entertainment favorite among Seneca Casinos fans, comes to Seneca Allegany Events Center in Salamanca, N.Y. for a 5 p.m. performance on Sunday, December 29. Tickets start at $30 and go on sale Monday, October 7, at noon. The band’s biggest hits include “I Want You to Want Me,” “Surrender,” “Don’t Be Cruel” (an Elvis Presley cover) and “The Flame.” They also wrote and performed the theme song for the hit TV show “The Colbert Report.” Cheap Trick was also recently ranked No. 25 in VH1's list of the 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock. A new addition to the December lineup for the 440-seat Bear’s Den Showroom at Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel is Kim Mitchell, who was the lead singer and guitarist for the Canadian hard rock band Max Webster before embarking on a solo career. Regulars to Seneca Niagara from Southern Ontario and Western New York might also recognize him as a radio host for Q107 (107.1 FM) in Toronto. Tickets for the 8 p.m. show on Friday, December 27, start at $55 and go on sale Monday, October 7, at noon.
