UPCOMING ENTERTAINMENT AT SENECA CASINOS: SEPTEMBER 2012 UPDATE NIAGARA FALLS and SALAMANCA, NY – With the fall season fast approaching and winter not far behind, Seneca Casinos has filled out its Bear’s Den Showroom schedule for November and announces upcoming holiday shows at each of its Events Centers. Coming to the Bear’s Den are classic pop-rock singer Dennis Tufano, folk-rock group John Hiatt & the Combo and psychedelic rock group The Grass Roots. Country icon Brenda Lee will perform five holiday shows from Nov. 28 to Dec. 2 at Seneca Allegany Events Center, and longtime Las Vegas–based singer and entertainer Wayne Newton will perform seven Christmas-themed shows from Dec. 5 to 9 at Seneca Niagara Events Center. Dennis Tufano, known as the “original voice” of The Buckinghams, comes to the 440-seat Bear’s Den Showroom for an 8 p.m. performance on Saturday, Nov. 10. Tickets start at $40 and are on sale now. The Buckinghams were a powerhouse pop-rock band in the 1960s with hits such as “Don’t You Care,” “Mercy, Mercy, Mercy,” “Susan” and the No. 1 hit “Kind of a Drag.” Billboard magazine named the group “The Most Listened to Band in America,” which led to television appearances on “The Ed Sullivan Show,” “The Smothers Brothers’ Comedy Hour,” “American Bandstand” and other teen favorites. One of America’s most respected and influential singer-songwriters will perform at the Bear’s Den Showroom with his band on Saturday, Nov. 17, at 8 p.m. Tickets to see JOHN HIATT & the Combo start at $65 and are on sale now. Hiatt’s songs have been covered by artists as diverse as Bob Dylan, Bonnie Raitt (“Thing Called Love”), Iggy Pop, Rosanne Cash (the No. 1 country hit, “The Way We Make A Broken Heart”), the Jeff Healey Band (“Angel Eyes”), Willie Nelson, Linda Ronstadt and others. He was recently honored with a star on Nashville’s Walk of Fame and also earned the Americana Music Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award for Songwriting.

The Grass Roots churned out song after song in the late 1960s and early 1970s – setting a record between 1967 and 1972 by being on the Billboard charts for 307 straight weeks. Three of the group’s numerous charted singles reached the Top 10, including “Let’s Live for Today,” “Midnight Confessions” and “Sooner or Later.” The group also has sold more than 20 million albums worldwide. Tickets to see The Grass Roots perform at the Bear’s Den on Saturday, Nov. 24, at 8 p.m. start at $35 and go on sale at noon on Monday, Sept. 24. Known as “Little Miss Dynamite” throughout her storied career, country sensation Brenda Lee got her start at age 12 by singing onstage with Elvis Presley at the Grand Ole Opry. Before age 18, she scored two timeless No. 1 hits with “I’m Sorry” and “I Want to Be Wanted,” performed a tour in the U.K. as the opener for an “up-and-coming” band called The Beatles, and recorded one of the most recognizable Christmas songs in modern history: “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree.” Lee went on to sell more than 100 million albums worldwide, earned stars in the Rock and Roll, Country Music, and Rockabilly Halls of Fame, and continues to entertain crowds with her high energy and powerful voice. She will perform “A Special Holiday Concert with Brenda Lee” at Seneca Allegany Events Center for five consecutive days, beginning on Wednesday, Nov. 28, and ending on Sunday, Dec. 2. Matinee shows at 1:30 p.m. take place on Nov. 28, Nov. 29, and Dec. 2; evening shows at 7 p.m. take place on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1. The venue will be arranged at half-size for a cozy and festive atmosphere. Tickets for each show start at just $20 and go on sale Monday, Sept. 17 at noon. A series of seven holiday-themed shows comes to Seneca Niagara Events Center, as singer and actor Wayne Newton presents “Christmas with Wayne Newton” from Wednesday, Dec. 5 through Sunday, Dec. 9. Matinee shows at 1:30 p.m. take place on Dec. 5, 6, 8, and 9; evening shows at 7 p.m. take place Dec. 6 through 8. Tickets for each show start at just $20 and go on sale Monday, Sept. 17 at noon. Newton is known worldwide as “Mr. Las Vegas” for his decades of performances throughout the city. He gained popularity in the 1960s with the hits “Danke Schoen” and “Red Roses for a Blue Lady,” and had other hits in later years with songs such as “Daddy, Don’t You Walk So Fast” and “Years.” Newton has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and earned the first star on the Las Vegas Walk of Fame in 2005. His holiday shows at Seneca Niagara Events Center will be speciallyarranged at approximately 900 seats per show to provide increased audience interaction and fantastic views. Tickets for all shows are available at Seneca Casino box offices, Ticketmaster.com, all Ticketmaster locations, or by phone at 800-745-3000.
