The Viera/Suntree Little League umpires, including junior umpires under age 18, volunteer their time to make sure the games are fair, the crowd and coaches are well behaved and the players come first. Called the Strike Force, the organization recently held a clinic for more than 50 umpires on the fields at Viera Regional Park. “For most of them it’s their first time out here. It gets complicated and it matters if you’re positioned correctly,’’ said umpire-incharge Dave Head, during drills on two of the fields. Viera High School presents Seussical™ on March 24 and 25 at 7:30 p.m. Seussical™ is a lively musical based on the works of Dr. Seuss, the author of beloved books for children, but don’t make the mistake of thinking this production is just for children. It may not think on it’s own, but it’s hard for any human to be better at surgery than the daVinci robot at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne. Patients with gynecologic, urologic, and prostate related conditions once faced open surgery, requiring a large incision, possible blood loss and long recovery times. Laparoscopic surgery, performed through small incisions in the abdomen is less intrusive. Surgeons use rigid instruments with a mini-camera to examine and operate on the organs of the pelvis and abdomen.
