The Purpose of Arikare
Arikare was conceived to enhance the lives of people.
We specialize in senior care to help people stay in the comfort of their home. We provide companionship, rides to appointments, patient advocacy when a family member can’t attend medical appointments and procedures.
What began as a journey of helping family members, we saw the need in our community for a different kind of care. We are considered a home care placement agency under state standards in which we match you with caregivers to start and maintain healthy relationships.
Arikare was created right here in Pueblo with the help of Mrs. Agatha
Jackson in 2013. We officially started serving Pueblo and surrounding areas in 2015. Our mission is to provide quality non-medical care to our community. The goal of Arikare is to partner with the client and their family to help meet the physical and emotional needs of patients. By providing quality non-medical services, we are meeting the needs of the community we serve. We are continuously monitoring our services to do well by doing good. ~

Proactive vs. Reactive
There are very few times in our lives where we fail to plan for the future.
Before we are born our supplies and living arrangements are planned and the joyous event takes place, we are born. From infancy all our steps are arranged. From there, we continue forward with schooling, coming of age and careers. As we grow, we continue to plan for our futures and eventually retirement. It is in this latter planning where sometimes plans are not as strong as they once were or could have been.
Life is unpredictable as we all know and in some cases a health care crisis can change the entire tone of our futures we have planned. I can provide Home and Health Financial Planning before, during and after this crisis to make a difference. Make your appointment today! ~

Medicare 2024 “In A Nutshell” (Parts
A, B & Medigap Plans)
Original Medicare is a government health insurance program primarily for people age 65 and older. It has four main parts: A, B, C & D. The chart below is an example of how Parts A & B work together with a traditional Medicare supplement also known as a “Medigap Plan.”
Medicare Part A Hospital Insurance
Generally no cost (If you paid Medicare taxes while working)
$1,632 deductible (per benefit period)
It is possible to pay the $1632 deductible and other daily charges for multiple stays & extended care.
Plan covers: Inpatient hospital care, home health care services, hospice, inpatient skilled nursing & more.
Providers are paid by Medicare assignment.
No coverage outside USA.
No out-of-pocket maximum.
Many people add a Medigap plan, Part D or an Advantage Plan (Part C) to fill the “gaps” in the coverage.
Medicare Part B Medical Insurance
Most people pay monthly $174.90 (Premium could be higher based on income)
$240 annual deductible. (this can increase each year)
80/20 after deductible.
Plan covers: health care providers, ambulance, emergency care, outpatient surgical, wellness & other Medicare approved benefits
Most doctors accept Medicare.
No coverage outside the USA.
No out-of-pocket maximum.
Many people add a Medigap plan, Part D or an Advantage Plan (Part C) to fill the “gaps” in the coverage.
A & B are designed for people over age 65 and those with certain disabilities
Supplemental Policy Plans A - N Medigap
Premium varies by company, age, location & other factors.
Guarantee Issue at initial enrollment (Other special enrollment periods may be avalable)
These plans generally pay the 20% not covered by Part B & other Medicare eligible benefits
When this coordinates with Medicare, many benefits are 100% covered
Can provide benefits outside USA
Plans are available through insurance companies.
Important to add Part D plan to cover prescription drugs & avoid penalties.
Must have Part A & B to enroll.
There is NO additional cost to use the services of a full time insurance professional. Please call us or a broker in your local area for additional assistance.

Additionally, the Part D Redesign will change the requirements placed on plans for the number of drugs covered per category in the drug formulary, prior authorization requirements and the availability of interchangeable prescriptions that become available midyear.
copays for procedures, maximum out of pockets and to the providers and hospitals in your plans network.

We will also see plans reacting to multiple other changes affecting how they operate, services provided, reimbursement rates and more. These changes have been called reform and redesign, but the main reason plans will be affected is the broad scope of the changes and the multiple areas affected in one year. There will be changes to the prescriptions covered, changes to

GIP – General In-Patient Care –Provided in a skilled nursing facility when the symptoms cannot be managed elsewhere. HOSPICE CARE
Sangre Provides Compassionate Care to Patients and Their Families
Hospice care exists to afford families the opportunity to spend their final moments surrounded by those closest to them, regardless of circumstances.
Focusing on quality and comfort when more conventional treatments become burdensome is equally hard. Hospice and Palliative care have shown to enhance the quality of life and help in maintaining the integrity of patients and their families in need of supportive or end-of-life services by offering them symptom management support, comfort, and compassion.
“You all are doing God’s work,” a patient recently told one of Sangre de Cristo Community Care’s chaplains when she stopped by to visit with him and his family.
They transferred to Sangre because we have nurses and CNAs who provide care even during the holidays.
Many patients have come to an end-stage of their disease: they have chronic health problems that aren’t going to go away and will bring further deterioration to the body and or mind.
He requested a chaplain after his wife’s health started to decline. The family was of strong faith, and the husband admitted he hadn’t been to church in a while because he had had a stroke and was unable to attend. Both he and his wife were ailing, lying in hospital beds next to each other. Their son, who also lived with them, had his own medical challenges.
It was the holidays, and the family was on services with a different company. They needed 24/7 care, circumstances beyond their control.
Hospice care focuses on all aspects of a patient’s life and well-being. Physical, social, emotional, and spiritual services are provided in developing a care plan tailored to the patients’ individual needs. Emotional and spiritual support is also offered to the patients’ loved ones as well, including grief support. ~

LICENSED MASSAGE THERAPY
–
Used as a method for relaxation to alleviate stress, anxiety and pain with a light hands-on approach, as well as providing an alternative to those who can’t take medication or prefer not to, massage therapy has become essential in hospice care. This is not reimbursed by Medicare.
MUSIC THERAPY – Music Therapy is an established healthcare profession that uses music to address physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of individuals”. A music therapist creates goals and objectives for their patients and uses music activities and music experiences (listening, composition, improvisation, or playing/singing a familiar song) in order to achieve those goals. This is not reimbursed by Medicare.
PAIN PUMPS AVAILABLE – Many patients have their symptoms controlled through oral medications. Some situations require a pain pump where medications are administered through an IV pump. If this is the situation, inquire with the hospice RN case manager to see if pain pumps are available through their agency.
PALLIATIVE CARE – Specialized medical care for people with serious illness. It is focused on providing patients with relief from the symptoms,
pain and stress of a serious illness –whatever the prognosis. It is appropriate at any age and at any stage in a serious illness and can be provided along with curative treatment.
PCP-OVERSIGHT – Can the hospice patient retain their own primary care physician in addition to the hospice medical director? All hospice organizations require a medical director, a physician to oversee their care. Many times the hospice medical director will work in conjunction with the patient’s own physician. The patient, family and hospice team can determine which physicians will oversee the care and certify the hospice eligibility criteria.
PET THERAPY – There’s nothing like a visit from a four-legged creature to brighten the day of a terminally ill patient. Pet therapy teams visit with patients wherever they reside – at home or in professional care settings. Studies have shown many benefits of pet companionship, ranging from reduced blood pressure and anxiety to relief from boredom, pain and loneliness. This service is not reimbursed by Medicare.
VA CONTRACT – If the patient is not a Medicare Recipient and is covered by the VA, the VA will make payments directly to their contracted agencies. If a patient is a Veteran, but is a Medicare Recipient, they may choose any Medicare approved hospice agency for their care. ~
