Senise Music
Senise Director of Music, Wlodek Gulgowski, was born on February 13th 1944 in Lodz, Poland. He studied piano for Professor Zygmunt Jesman at the conservatory in Lodz. After his studies, he dedicated himself to improvisation and jazz. He came to Sweden in 1965 and worked as a pianist, arranger and composer; during this time, he collaborated with the group “Made in Sweden”. He travelled to the United States in 1975 and worked with musicians such as Al Di Meola, Steve Gadd, Anthony Williams and Anthony Jackson. He returned to Sweden in 1980 and from 1984-86 he studied composition with his countryman Witold Lutoslawski.

Gulgowski has written primarily for the piano, but he has also composed a great deal of music for theatre and film through the years, among others “Fiendens fiende” (Enemy of the Enemy), “Miraklet i Valby” (The Miracle in Valby), “Morfars resa” (Grandfather’s Journey), “Shaman”, “Familjen Wolff” (The Wolff Family), “Russian Trinity” and music for several documentaries. In 2001 he wrote the music for “Gustav III:s äktenskap” (The Marriage of Gustav III) which was awarded the “Prix Europa” in Berlin the following year. In 1992 he wrote the music for the film “I Nazismens spår” (Sorrow: The Nazi Legacy), which won an “Emmy Award” and in 1994 he was awarded the Swedish film prize “Guldklappan” for best film music. Wlodek Wulgowski is a member of the Swedish Society of Composers (FST) and the Nordic Composers Council, to which he was elected in 1994.
