passed and, with the anticipation of Thanksgiving, celebration is in the air. There was a time, pre-pandemic, when many complained that the holidays seemed to appear too soon in the year, posting diatribes about holiday decorations on display in September. There were even throwback proponents who refused to embrace the holidays—at all—until the actual day of Thanksgiving. The pandemic may have shifted these attitudes a bit. In 2020, people decorated for the holidays early, some even did so over the summer months. Brightly colored lights and Christmas trees appeared. So many people rejoiced at the first week of October, celebrating the season and the permission to have fun. In November 2020, communities made extra effort to include underserved and at-risk folks in holiday celebrations. The theme: “Everyone is in this together.” Did you know that Thanksgiving is celebrated on various dates around the world? An official holiday in the United States, Canada, Grenada, Saint Lucia, and Liberia, it is also celebrated in Germany and Japan unofficially. Around the globe, it’s recognized as a day of gratitude, giving thanks, and rejoicing with a bountiful harvest of plenty. In the world of cannabis, many are thankful for legalized medicinal cannabis for personal health and relief. Others can celebrate living in states where recreational cannabis is also legal. According to politico.com, two in three Americans live in a state that has approved the sale of recreational cannabis. At Sensi, we are thankful to see progress toward federal legalization and strides in the decriminalization movement. The pandemic has taught us to remain in the present moment. So many of us have dealt with exceptional challenges this year, including the passing of loved ones and many other kinds of sacrifice, loss, and heartache. Gratitude keeps us on the path to creating a better tomorrow. A big thank you for joining us during this holiday season as we journey to 2022. It is my honor to continue to serve you, our readers, as part of Sensi magazine.
