It’s a fast-paced collage of stories from a frenzied but creative decade, starting with punk and ending with the Love Parade, all from a city where the days are short and the nights are endless. Starring: Mark Reeder, Muriel Gray, Blixa Bargeld, Nena, Nick Cave, Joy Division, Die Toten Hosen, Einstürzende Neubauten, Malaria!

Asian Dub Foundation’s recent re-staging of their live soundtrack to La Haine acted as a catalyst to forming this amazing current line up and performing their trademark fusion of punk rock, electronic beats, reggae, bhangra and hip hop. 11

FACTORY FLOOR + LONELADY

fri

Factory Floor make their debut performance in Sheffield for Sensoria 2015. Factory Floor belong alongside an axis of artists that embrace industrial, post-punk, disco, acid, avant-garde minimalism, electro, dub and— most crucially—the dancefloor, without being beholden to any one genre. One of the most startling live bands around The Quietus Released on Warp in March this year, LoneLady’s album HINTERLAND comes like a bolt from the dark, channelling dance and funk influences to explore the post-industrial ruinscape, brutalist architecture and psychogeography of her native Manchester. At its core beats a special kind of uncomplicated drum machine rhythm and the synthetic timbre of percussion that recalls fractured memories of minimal wave and even early techno, lashed together with LoneLady’s intricate and propulsive style of guitar playing. For all the anxiety embedded in her lyrics, Campbell’s music has a limber energy and strutting, snapping boldness The Guardian
