‘스페인어’ 생활상담 신설

전문상담 ‘세무’ 영역 신설

스페인어를 사용하는 외국인주민이 증가함에 따라 3월부터 스페인어 생활상담을 신설 운영 했습니다. 이를 통해 총 13개 언어의 생활상담 을 제공하는 센터로 발돋움하게 되었습니다. (스페인어 상담 : 월·수요일 9:30~17:30)

외국인주민의 권리보호를 위해 운영되는 전문상담 사업에 ‘세무’ 분 야를 6월부터 신설 운영하여 더욱 다양해지고 복잡해지는 서울의 세 금 이슈에 대응할 수 있도록 지원했습니다. (세무 전문상담 : 월요일 14:30~17:00)

외국인주민 집단 심리상담 프로그램 시범 운영

심리·정서적 어려움을 겪고 있는 외국인주민을 대상으로 영화와 사 진을 이용한 집단 상담 프로그램을 11월부터 6회기 운영, 외국인주민 의 건강한 서울생활에 도움이 되고자 노력했습니다.

외국인주민 상담원교육 심화과정 운영

2018년부터 진행된 상담원교육 기본과정을 수료한 외국인주민을 대상으 로 실습과 사례 중심의 심화과정을 1회 신설 운영하여 수강생의 역량을 강화하고 외국인주민의 가능성을 다양하게 펼칠 수 있도록 도왔습니다.

한국어교육 고급반 증설

중·장기 체류 외국인주민이 증가함에 따라 고급 한국어교육을 원하 는 외국인주민을 대상으로 4A반을 운영하여 다양한 욕구에 대응하였 습니다. 2020년에는 4B반을 추가하여 운영 할 예정입니다.

제3회 외국인지원시설 종사자 워크숍 성료

외국인주민을 대상으로 사업을 운영하는 다양한 기관이 참여하여 서울 시 외국인주민 정책에 대한 의견을 교환하고 네트워킹 활동과 강의 등을 진행해 25개 외국인주민 지원 시설의 59명의 종사자가 참여했습니다.

글로벌 시민포럼 ‘서울 : 언제나 네 편’ 개최

외국인주민의 심리·정서적 지원에 대해 유관기관과 외국인주민이 모여 의견을 교환하는 장을 마련해 외국인주민의 공감을 이끌어 냈습니다.

‘외국인에게 꼭 필요한 서울 생활 안내’ 신규언어 제작

기존 10개 언어로 제작되었던 ‘외국인에게 꼭 필요한 서울 생활 안내’ 가 스페인어, 아랍어, 인도네시아어로 발행되어 더욱 많은 외국인주민 에게 도움이 되었습니다.

서울글로벌센터 조직 변경

외국인주민의 안정적인 서울생활 정착을 돕기 위해 ‘외국인주민 생활 지원’ 업무만을 수행하는 외국인주민 생활 지원기관으로 재정비되어 서울글로벌센터 생활지원팀에서 서울글로벌센터로 조직을 변경했습 니다.

홈페이지 웹 접근성 인증 마크 획득

「국가정보화기본법」에 따라 한국어·영어·중국어 페이지에 대한 웹 접근성 인증 마크를 획득해 외국인과 장애인을 포함한 모든 이용자를 대상으로 안정적인 온라인 환경을 제공했습니다.

외국인주민 공동체의 건강한 자립과 활성화를 위해 ‘외국인주민 공동체 사랑방’ 과 ‘외국인주민 공동체 활동 지원’을 운영, 많은 공동체에게 도움을 드리기 위해 최선을 다했습니다. 서울 방방곡곡에서 열심히 활동하며 글로벌 서울을 알리기 위해 노력한 ‘외국인 주민 서울통신원’과 안정적인 온라인 환경을 제공하며 13개 홈페이지를 운영하 는 ‘전산 사업’ 역시 많은 수확을 거두었던 한 해 였습니다.

2019년 서울글로벌센터는 외국인주민을 위한 전문적인 상담과 다양한 주제의 사업들을 운영했습니다. 3월부터 새롭게 시작된 스페인어를 포함한 13개 언어의 ‘생활 상담’과 각 분야 의 전문가와 함께하는 ‘전문 상담’을 통해 외국인주민 분들이 권리보호에 힘썼 습니다. 또한 ‘한국어교육’, ‘외국인주민 역량강화교육’, ‘서울생활 오리엔테이션’, ‘운전 면허 필기시험교육’ 등 다양한 주제의 교육을 무료로 진행해 외국인주민이 서울 생활에 잘 적응할 수 있도록 지원했습니다. 더불어 센터를 방문하기 어려운 외국인주민을 위해 ‘찾아가는 이동상담’, ‘찾아 가는 한국어교육’ 등을 실시해 한 분의 외국인주민도 빠짐없이 서비스를 누릴 수 있도록 노력하기도 했습니다. 그 밖에도 ‘글로벌센터 자원봉사단’으로 보람 있는 서울 생활을 제공하고, ‘FC 서울과 함께하는 세계인의 날’을 통해 내·외국인주민이 함께 누리는 스포츠 축 제를 만들었으며, ‘글로벌 문화축제’로 다양한 나라의 문화를 즐길 수 있는 장을 마련했습니다. 06

센터에서 처음에 일하기 시작했을 때 찾아오셨던 분들과 몇 년 지난 지금 찾아오는 분들의 도 움 요청 내용에 차이가 있나요? ‘큰 차이가 있지는 않습니다. 다만 매년 새롭게 발생하는 이슈에 따라서 질문내용이 조금씩 달라지기는 합니 다. 예를 들어 2019년에 E-9 체류 근로자 중소기업 취업자 소득세 감면 관련 이슈, 전문인력 F-2 점수제 등 의 내용이 새롭게 나왔을 때 관련 상담내용이 증가했습니다.

외국인주민 선배로서 안정적인 한국 생활 정착의 비결이 무엇일까요? ‘아는 만큼 보인다’라는 말처럼 한국 사회와 문화를 잘 알면 한국생활이 수월해질 수 있습니다. 한국말을 잘하 고 자기의 권익이 무엇인지 알게 되면 자신의 상황과 생각을 큰 어려움 없이 표현할 수 있기 때문에 한국에서 살기가 쉬워질 수 있습니다.

서울글로벌센터는 외국인주민의 한국 생활 정착을 돕기 위해 한국어를 포함한 13개 국어로 각종 상담을 진행하고

있습니다. 이번 ‘서울글로벌센터의 Too Much Information’ 코너에서는 센터에서 7년째 근무하고 있는 우즈벡어 상 담원 샤흐노자 주임님을 만나봤습니다. 외국인주민 상담원으로서 근무하면서 좋은 점, 어려운 점 등에 대해 주임님

심리적인 어려움을 겪을 때는 먼저 ‘시간이 빠르다’"라는 것을 기억하시면 좋겠습니다. 또한 주변에 더 상황이 어려운 사람들과 이야기를 나누거나 봉사활동을 하면 본인이 지금 이 순간에 건강하고 행복한 삶을 누리고 있 다는 것을 확인하게 되니까 힘을 얻는데 도움이 될 것 같습니다.

서울글로벌센터가 어떤 기관인지, 주임님께서 무슨 일을 하시는지 간단하게 소개해 주시겠어요?

주로 어떤 분들이 찾아오고 어떤 도움을 요청하는 건가요? 한국에서 생활하면서 필요한 정보를 얻기 위해, 문제가 발생했을 때 해결하기 위해 센터를 방문하는데요, 행 정, 체류, 교통, 주거, 교육, 의료, 금융과 법률, 노무, 산재, 부동산, 세무, 인권, 심리 상담 등 다양한 분야에 대 한 질문을 하고 있습니다.

외국인주민 상담의 보람과 어려운 점이 있다면 무엇일까요? 저도 상담원이지만 외국인 상담원이고, 한국에서 살고 있는 외국인으로서 생각해보면 이 분들이 안정된 한국 생활을 할 수 있도록 자기 권익을 찾아주는 상담을 하고 도움이 되면 보람을 느끼죠. 어려운 점은, 미리 필요한 정보를 알기만 했어도 이런 문제가 발생하지 않았을 텐데 정보가 없거나 주의를 기울이지 않아 문제가 일어나 게 되고, 결국 그 문제를 해결하는 게 잘 안 되는 상황이 발생했을 때 어려움을 많이 느껴요.

외국인주민을 도와주셔도 부정적인 비판을 받으실 때 어떻게 하시나요? 마음을 어떻게 다스리 시는 방법이 있나요? ‘이 세상에는 여러 사람들이 있구나!’ 라는 생각을 하고 오히려 감정을 스스로 컨트롤 하는 능력을 배우는데 도 움이 되었다고 긍정적으로 생각하려고 합니다.

우즈베키스탄 외국인주민들에게 하고 싶은 말이나 해주고 싶은 조언이 무엇입니까? 한국에 오기 전 한국어를 배우고 오면 도움이 많이 되고, 두 번째로 한국 문화, 한국 생활과 관련된 법을 알면 억울한 일이 덜 발생하지 않을까 생각합니다. 그리고 정보가 필요하면 문제가 발생하기 전에 서울글로벌센터 에서 상담을 받을 것을 추천합니다.

앞으로 외국인주민의 한국생활에 있어서 SGC와 SGC상담원의 역할이 무엇이라고 생각하시나요? 외국인 주민들이 자주 직면하는 문제들을 상담을 통해서 수집하고, 이를 바탕으로 인식 및 제도 개선에 기여하 는 것이라고 생각합니다. 예를 들자면 근로자들의 임금체불은 오랜 시간 동안 해결되지 않는 부분인데, 상담을 통해 쌓은 노하우를 통해서 일하시는 분들이 자신의 기본적은 권리를 침해당하지 않도록 인식개선을 하고 제 도적으로도 기여할수 있는 부분이 있다면 해야 할 것 같습니다.

한국어교육 TOPIK 대비반 국적별 인원 현황 : 40개국, 267명

센터 집합 한국어교육에 참여하기 어려운 외국인주민이 많이 이용하는 곳에 강 사를 파견하여 한국어 교육을 진행합니다. 기초반, 높은초급반, 중급반 등 수강생 의 수준에 맞추어 수업 과정을 구성하고 혜화동에 위치한 한성대학교 에듀센터 에서 연 2기로 진행했습니다. 찾아가는 한국어교육 국적 및 인원 현황 : 필리핀 1개국, 188명

부모나라 모국어교육

주한 몽골 대사관과 협력하여 몽골 출신 다문화가정 자녀를 대상으로 부모님 나 라의 언어인 몽골어를 재미있게 배우며 정체성을 확립할 수 있도록 돕고 있습니 다. 연 2기로 나누어 진행되며, 수준별 교육과 체험학습, 종강식 등 다양한 프로 그램으로 수업을 진행합니다. 부모나라 모국어교육 국적별 인원 현황 : 몽골 1개국, 62명

한국어능력시험을 준비하는 문제풀이 중심의 수업으로 초·중·고급 과정으로 나누어 8주 수업으로 진행됩니다. 출석률 80% 이상 수강생에게 수료증이 주어집 니다.

외국인주민이 운전면허 취득을 위해 반드시 치러야 하는 필기시험을 대비하고 외국인 초보운전자의 도로주행능력 향상 및 안전한 교통 문화 질서 정착을 위해 종로경찰서와 연계해 연 4기로 운영됩니다.

세무, 노무, 비자, 부동산, 가족법, 재난 대비 및 안전 정보 안내 등 외국인주민이 서울생활에서 꼭 알아야 하는 다양한 콘텐츠의 교육을 제공합니다. 필리핀, 몽골, 영어권, 스페인어권 281명 외국인주민에게 연 5회 교육을 진행했습니다. 2019년 외국인주민 역량강화교육 추진 실적 : 29개국(미응답 제외), 281명 참가 내용

2019 서울글로벌센터 사업 보고서

문화사업

FC서울과 연계해 다문화가정이 무료로 축구경기를 관람할 수 있도록 제공하고, 스포츠를 통해 내·외국인주민이 화합할 수 있는 장을 마련합니다. 또한 글로벌 콘서트, 세계 문화 여행 등 다양한 여가 기회를 제공해 즐거운 서울생활을 함께 하고자 합니다. 2019년에는 23개 기관에서 765명이 참여하고, 인도 출신 방송인 ‘럭키’가 시축 재능기부로, 러시아·벨라루스·우크라이나 등 다국적 공연 팀의 활동으로 ‘외국 인주민의 날’의 진정한 의미가 더해졌습니다.

외국인주민이 자원봉사를 통해 서울 생활에서 보람을 느끼고 사회구성원으로 활 동 할 수 있도록 봉사활동 프로그램을 운영하고 있습니다. 세계 문화 여행, 나무 숲 조성 활동, 장애인 활동 보조 등 나눔 활동으로 의미 있는 서울 생활을 지원합 니다. 2019년 글로벌센터 자원봉사단 추진 실적 : 38개국, 77명 참가 횟수 (회)

‌ 2019 글로벌 문화축제 3.

10월 26일(토), 남산골 한옥마을에서 열린 글로벌 문화축제에서는 베트남, 슬로 바키아, 우즈베키스탄, 인도네시아, 중국, 필리핀, 태국 등 7개 국가 출신 외국인 주민이 직접 출신 국가를 소개하고, 전통 먹거리를 나누고 문화 체험을 제공하는 등 다양한 볼거리를 마련했습니다. 또한 방문한 외국인주민에게 즐거움을 선사하 는 ‘북청사자놀이’, ‘태권도 시범 공연’, ‘단심줄 놀이’ 등 다양한 프로그램이 마련 되어 눈길을 끌었습니다. 그 외에도 이국인 벼룩시장, 남산골 야시장 등이 진행돼 8,958명의 내·외국인주민이 한자리에 모여 문화를 나누는 장을 마련했습니다.

4. 외국인 벼룩시장

외국인주민이 가진 중고물품을 판매하거나 전통 음식을 만들어 판매하는 특별한 시장을 연 5회 운영했습니다. 광화문 희망장터, 남산골 한옥마을과 연계해 내· 외국인이 함께 참여하는 벼룩시장을 운영해 상호교류의 기회를 늘리고 판매 수 익금 기부를 통해 더불어 사는 공동체 문화를 확산시켰습니다. 137개 팀, 299명 이 참여했습니다.

글로벌센터 자원봉사단의 봉사 후기 외국인분들을 안내해주는 일이 재미있었고 보람을 느꼈습니다. 정말 잘 챙겨주시고 친절하게 대해주셔서 봉사하는데 너무 즐겁고 보람찼습니다 감사합니다!!

5. 글로벌센터 송년회

12월 14일(토)에 서울글로벌센터에서 센터 이용자, 자원봉사자, 서울통신원, 외 국인주민 커뮤니티 대표자 등 내·외국인주민 151명을 초청해 서울글로벌센터 와 서울에 관련된 외국인 퀴즈대회, 인도네시아 전통 무용단 공연, 브라스 밴드 캐롤 공연, 소원 트리 만들기 등 따뜻하고 행복한 연말을 맞이 했습니다.

This program is very fun and I feel excitement of this volunteer job. Hope that I can joy such a interesting programs next time.

추운날씨에도 직원분들이 많이 배려해주셔서 기분좋게 마무리 할 수 있었습니다.

한국에 온 외국 분들이 이렇게 다양한줄 몰랐고 직접 대화해 볼 수 있어서 너무 좋았습니다. 한복 존이 더 활성화 되도록 더 큰 공간, 그리고 현대적인 느낌이 가미된 다양한 한복들이 있으면 좋을 것 같습니다!

서울시 내 외국인지원시설 종사자를 대상으로 정보교류의 장을 마련하고 실무에 필요한 교육을 제공해 사업의 질 개선과 종사자 역량강화에 기여하고자 워크숍을 운영했습니다. 2019년 9월 4일(수), 서울글로벌센터 9층 국제회의장에서 개최했으며, 25개 외국 인지원시설의 59명의 종사자가 참여하였습니다. 제2차 서울시 외국인주민 및 다문 화가족 정책 소개(서울시외국인다문화 담당관), 유관기관 정보교류 및 네트워크(스 위치온 김난희 대표), 7월부터 달라지는 외국인·재외국민 건강보험 (국민건강보험 공단), 외국인지원시설 종사자의 자기돌봄을 위한 비폭력 대화(한국NVC센터 캐서 린한 대표) 등 다채로운 프로그램을 운영했습니다.

New free counseling service in Spanish

New field of professional counseling: Tax accounting

Pilot operation of the group therapy program for foreign residents

Operation of the intensive course in counselor education for foreign residents

Advanced-level Korean language classes

Seoul Global Center began providing counseling in Spanish from March recognising the increase in Spanish-speaking foreign residents in Seoul. As a result, Seoul Global Center now provides counseling in 13 different languages. (Free counseling in Spanish: Mondays and Wednesdays from 09:30 to 17:30) Seoul Global Center introduced a new field of professional counseling in tax accounting to protect the rights of foreign residents, thereby providing support to deal with tax issues that continue to become more diversified and complex. (Professional tax accountant counseling: Mondays from 14:30 to 17:30) Seoul Global Center started a group therapy program for foreign residents who suffer psychological and emotional difficulty meeting six times from November as part of our effort to help foreign residents lead healthy lives in Seoul Seoul Global Center has offered a one-time intensive further course with a focus on practical experience and case studies for foreign residents who have completed the basic training course for counselors since 2018. The course is designed to help students enhance their skills and foreign residents unfold their potential in diverse ways. Seoul Global Center added new advanced level classes (4A) for foreign residents wishing to take their Korean ability beyond that required for daily life. As the number of long-term foreign residents in Seoul continues to increase we will satisfy their diverse needs by adding 4B classes in 2020.

59 workers from 25 foreigner support centers that run programs for foreign residents participated in a workshop to exchange opinions on policies for foreign residents in Seoul as well as networking and enjoying talks from experts.

Successful hosting of a mental health forum for foreign residents with the theme “Seoul: With You All the Way”

Seoul Global Center provided the forum for relevant organizations and foreign residents to gather and exchange opinions regarding psychological and emotional support for foreign residents, thereby enabling them to empathize.

Published the “Guidebook for Living in Seoul” in new languages

Seoul Global Center's Guidebook for Living in Seoul, which had been available in 10 different languages, was published in three additional languages (Spanish, Arabic and Indonesian) to help more foreign residents.

Reorganization of Seoul Global Center

Seoul Global Center was reorganized to focus on livelihood support for foreign residents to help foreign residents settle in to life in Seoul.

web accessibility certification mark

Seoul Global Center website was awarded the web accessibility certification mark for its Korean, English and Chinese webpages under the “Framework Act on National Informatization,” providing a stable online environment for all users including foreign nationals and disabled persons.

One-Stop Service staff members, and related agencies such as Jongno Police Station, embassies and Seoul Metropolitan Government officials who have contributed to the success of the center’s activities during the course of the year. The number of foreign residents in Seoul has exceeded 440,000. Seoul Global Center will remain committed to helping foreign residents build healthier lives in Seoul, which is on its way to becoming a true global city. Date

To minimize disruption to the center's counseling services and to create more jobs by strengthening the counseling capability, Seoul Global Center employs and trains substitute counselors in 12 languages. In 2019, 380 regular and 317 non-regular counselor assistants participated to gain practical experience in counseling for foreign residents and Seoul Global Center provided various training sessions to strengthen their capabilities.

SGC’s Too Much Information

Interview "Seoul Global Center Counselor!"

Is there any difference between the people who came to you when you first started working and those who come now after a few years of working at Seoul Global Center? There is not much difference. However, questions differ little by little depending on new issues that arise each year. For example, in 2019, when changes related to reduced income tax for employees of SMEs staying on E-9 visa and the F-2 point system for skilled workforce were introduced, counseling related to those issues increased.

What is the secret to settling stably in Korea from your viewpoint as an experienced foreign resident?

To help foreign residents settle in Korea, Seoul Global Center provides counseling in 13 different languages, including Korean. In this corner of "SGC's TMI," we met with Shahnoza, an Uzbek counselor who has been with Seoul Global Center for seven years. We had a frank talk with her about the good things and difficulties she has experienced as a counselor for foreign residents. As she is highly experienced, she was able to offer useful information.

Could you briefly tell us what kind of organization Seoul Global Center is and what you do there?

What kind of people usually come to you, and what kind of help do they seek?

People visit the center to obtain the necessary information and address issues while living in Korea, and they ask questions about various topics such as administration, visas, transportation, housing, education, healthcare, finance and law, labor, industrial accidents, real estate, tax accounting, human rights and psychological counseling.

What are the rewarding and challenging aspects of counseling foreign residents? Although I am a counselor myself, I am a foreign counselor, and as a foreigner who lives in Korea, it feels rewarding to counsel and help them find out their rights and interests to make sure that they can lead a stable life in Korea. If only they could have had the necessary information in advance, they wouldn't have had a problem. However, it is regrettable to see them having problems as they had no such information or failed to pay attention, and end up suffering from a situation where it is difficult to address the problem.

What do you do when you get negative criticism even after you help foreign residents? How do you control your emotions?

What are some tips for foreign residents living in Korea to help them overcome psychological difficulties? When you have psychological difficulties, remember that time flies. Also, if you talk to people who are having a harder time around you or engage in volunteer work, you will be able to see that you are living a healthy and happy life at this moment, thereby regaining strength.

What do you want to say to or advise foreign residents from Uzbekistan?

What do you think are the roles of Seoul Global Center itself and of SGC counselors for foreign residents' life in Korea?

Seoul Global Center is an organization that provides support for foreign residents in Seoul and offers multilingual information for the safe living of foreign residents. I am a counselor for the Uzbek language.

I think to myself, "There are all kinds of people in this world!" and try to remain positive. It's helped me learn to control my emotions on my own.

Learning the Korean language before coming to Korea helps a lot, and secondly, I believe that people would experience fewer unfair events if they made themselves aware of Korean culture and also laws related to life in Korea. Also, if they need information, I would recommend that they should seek counseling from Seoul Global Center at the earliest possibility before any major problems arise.

I believe that our role is gathering information about problems often faced by foreign residents through counseling, and contributing to improving awareness of said issues and developing related systems. For example, delayed payment of wages remains unresolved for workers after a long period of time, and we will need to improve their awareness to ensure that workers do not suffer violations of their rights and contribute to the improvement of systems using the know-how we have gained through counseling.

‌ Current status of TOPIK prep Korean language class by nationality : 267 students from 40 countries

To support the stable settlement of foreign residents in Seoul, Korean language classes are provided for each level of proficiency. Based on the purpose of each class, there are various classes available, including general classes, TOPIK prep classes, on-site Korean language classes for various foreign residents of different backgrounds, including marriage migrants, foreign workers, and international students, participate in the education. Additionally, mother tongue classes are held in cooperation with the Mongolian Embassy for children with a parent from Mongolia.

Conversation-oriented classes are held over the course of three 12-week sessions per year, from the basic courses of 1A to the advanced Korean course of 4A. Students with an attendance rate of 80 percent or higher are awarded a certificate of completion.

Instructors are sent to places largely used by foreign residents who are unable to participate in group classes held at the center. The courses are run at basic, post-basic, and intermediate levels according to the ability of students, and two sessions each were run at Edu Center of Hansung University in Hyehwa-dong.

Mother tongue class

In cooperation with the Mongolian Embassy in Korea, Seoul Global Center is helping children of multicultural families from Mongolia learn the Mongolian language, the language of their parents' country, and establish their identity. To prepare for the written test that foreign residents must take in order to obtain a driver's license, and to improve the road driving ability of foreign learner drivers and establish a safe traffic culture, courses are provided four times a year in conjunction with Jongno Police Station.

3. "Living ‌ in Seoul" Orientation

In order to address the difficulties faced when first living in Seoul, Seoul Global Center offers "'Seoul Life' Orientation" that provides essential information on life in Seoul by visiting universities and foreign schools at the start of each semester and speaking to participants including international students and foreign workers. 2. ‌ Expats’ Day with FC Seoul

In conjunction with FC Seoul, multicultural families are given the opportunity to watch a professionalfootball game for free and to mix with Korean residents and unite through sport. Seoul Global Center also provides various leisure opportunities, such as global concerts and world culture gettogethers to promote the enjoyment of a pleasant life in Seoul together. In 2019, 765 people from 23 organizations participated, and Lucky, a television personality from India donated his time to take the ceremonial kickoff, which combined with the activities of multinational performance teams from Russia, Belarus and Ukraine added a real meaning to Expats’ Day. 3. 2019 ‌ Global Culture Festivals

At the global culture festival held on Saturday, October 26, in Namsangol Hanok Village, foreign residents from seven countries, namely Vietnam, Slovakia, Uzbekistan, Indonesia, China, the Philippines and Thailand, introduced their countries, shared traditional foods and offered various cultural experiences. Furthermore, various programs such as "Bukcheong Saja Nori," "Taekwondo Demonstration Performance," and "Dansimjul Nori" were held to entertain foreign residents. In addition, there was a flea market for foreigners and the Namsangol Night Market, where 8,958 Koreans and foreign residents gathered to share their cultures.

4. Foreign Flea Market

Seoul Global Center ran special markets five times a year to allow foreign residents to sell second-hand goods as well as to cook and sell traditional food. In conjunction with Gwanghwamun Hope Sharing Flea Market and Namsangol Hanok Village, we opened flea markets where both Koreans and foreigners participated, increasing opportunities for mutual exchange and spreading the community culture of living together through donations of sales proceeds. 299 people from 137 teams participated.

5. SGC ‌ A Year End Party, Goodbye 2019

On Saturday, December 14, 151 Korean and foreign residents, including center users, volunteers, Seoul Correspondents and representatives of foreign resident communities, gathered at Seoul Global Center to participate in a quiz competition about the Center and Seoul and enjoy performances by a traditional Indonesian dance group, carols played by a brass band, and making wish trees to partake in happy year-end festivities.

This program is very fun and I feel excitement of this volunteer job. Hope that I can joy such a interesting programs next time.

To help boost the operation of foreign resident communities and establish their self-reliant capabilities, Seoul Global Center provides support for areas necessary for community activities such as venue hire for events and gatherings, support for operational goods, and support for the production of promotional materials. The program has provided support 35 times to 23 communities from various countries, including the Philippines, China, Bangladesh and Kazakhstan. To help communities consisting of foreign residents effectively engage in activities, Seoul Global Center offers access to community office space and equipment to support foreign residents' hopes of living in Seoul and the establishment of a foundation for self-reliance of their community. Public Relations Programs To ensure that foreign residents lead a stable life in Seoul, Seoul Global Center operates a group of reporters covering various policies for foreigners, living information and events for foreign residents in 11 different languages (Russian, Mongolian, Vietnamese, Spanish, Arabic, English, Uzbek, Indonesian, Japanese, Chinese and Thai). 11 correspondents representing each language went all over Seoul, disseminating a wide range of information. 2019 SeoulGlobalCenter Annual Report

Special Programs Seoul Global Center operated a workshop to contribute to improving the quality of its services and enhancing the capabilities of workers in foreigner support facilities throughout Seoul by hosting an event for networking and providing education required for practical work. It was held on Wednesday, September 4, 2019, on the 9th floor of Seoul Global Center, with 59 employees of 25 foreigner support facilities participating. Seoul Global Center ran various programs, including the introducing the 2nd five year plan of policies for foreign residents and multicultural families in Seoul (Foreign Multicultural Officer of the Seoul Metropolitan Government), information exchange and network of related agencies (Nan-hui Kim, President of Switch On), health insurance for foreign nationals and expatriates to be modified starting July (National Health Insurance Service), and nonviolent communication for self-help of workers at foreigner support facilities (Katherine Han, President of the Korean Center for Nonviolent Communication).

The foreign residents' mental health forum "Seoul: With you All the Way," held on Saturday, November 23, 2019, was designed to discuss psychological health issues of foreign residents, identify the current status of psychological and emotional support raising the issue, and seek new paradigms. Professor Eun-jeong Shim of Soongsil University took the chair, and experts from various circles, such as Betul, a foreign resident from Turkey; Min-jeong Do, Director of You & Me Psychological and Consultation Services; Ae-ran Lee, Secretary-General of the We_Friends Migrant Health Association in Korea; and Chae-ok Kim, clinical psychologist at Seoul Metropolitan Eunpyeong Hospital; as well as 63 people assembled to discuss the psychological and emotional difficulties of foreign residents.
