Septic system design

Septic System Design. Make sure you get a good septic designer to do the job for you. The septic designer will carry out the necessary tests and come up with a good design. Tell the designer where you will build your house but let them give their input. What many homeowners do not know is the fact that moving the house even a few feet makes the difference between a more expensive pump system and a regular gravity fed system. This will save you a lot of money. The gravity const system is very cheap compared to the pump system which needs pumps to function properly. It is also cheaper to maintain the gravity system as it has less moving parts which in most cases break down. If the designer says that you cannot have a regular septic system design try to ask them whether there are any other types of systems and the advantages and disadvantages of each type. However, if the designer pushes you towards only one type of septic design the reason may be because that is the only system they can do. If this is the case, take your copy of the site and the soil conditions and contact other contractors to find out about their opinions.

When putting a septic system, there are some safeguards which are meant to protect you. The first step is having a septic designer who will assess the design and site of the system. The design must meet the needs of your home and will work with the soil conditions. The designer will present the plan to the local agency in charge of septic systems which in most cases is either the health or zoning office. The office responsible has the power to either approve or disapprove the plan. If the plan is approved a septic installer will come and install the system according to the designer’s plan. The building inspector will then come to the site and inspect the system in order to ensure the system was installed according to the original approved plan. As a homeowner, you have to be very active in the septic system design process. Before building in any place, find out from your neighbors what type of septic system they installed. However, do not rely on those who tell you they installed the system 20 years ago as that system may no longer be acceptable. Another place you should seek advice is the local Board of Health. They will point out the best contractors for the job. For more information and any needed help check the drain field options website.
