Fertilize 施肥

Grow 生长

Plant 种植

Collect the seeds

TO GROW A PLANT WHAT DO YOU NEED TO CONSIDER?

ORGANIC VEGETABLES

Are different from the mass produced ones because farmers don’t use chemical fertilizers or pesticides to grow them.

PESTICIDES ARE USED FOR WHAT REASON?

CHEMICALS CAN BE AVOIDED

Some insects are useful to protect the plants and fertilize the soil. Make sure to attract some of them when you start your garden!

Hi! I am a ........................... I protect plants because i eat aphids (those little white bugs) Hi!

Hello! I am a ........................... My poop contains all the elements to keep the soil healthy! Hi!

HARMONY of the ECOSYSTEM

Organic farmers plant a variety of vegetables that attracts different wildlife who naturally protect local crops.

WHAT IS AN ECOSYSTEM MADE OF?

COLLECTING the SEEDS

farmers collect seeds from the plants they grow for next year’s crops. You can do the same. You can also keep seeds you find in fruits and vegetables.

HOW TO COLLECT TOMATO SEEDS

Take the seeds off the tomato

Let them sit in water overnight

tomatoes

empty the content into a sieve and wash the seeds under running water

let the seeds dry out and then store them in a labelled container until you’re ready to plant them

GROW PLANTS

Growing vegetables is fun! It keeps the air clean, it keeps us healthy and makes us understand where our food comes from.

YOU CAN GROW PLANTS IN DIFFERENT CONTAINERS

Just remember to cut a hole on the bottom for water drainage

Draw the plants you want to grow in these containers, or stick some real leaves.

LEARN the DIFFERENCES

Find some leaves, put them under the next page. Use a wax crayon to rub on the paper over your leaf. Use the back of a leaf to get a better result! Now write the name of the plants!

Composting is a way to reuse your organic kitchen waste and turn it into nutritious food to feed your plants.

WHICH ONES OF THESE SCRAPS CAN GO IN THE COMPOSTER?

is an efficient technique to grow plants all year round. Plants grow in water, instead of soil, and there is no need to use fertilizers. Did you know that hydroponics have been around since babylonian times?

DRAW YOUR OWN WINDOW GARDEN
