Through continually challenging and questioning the mundane of modern society, my work offers a new and ethereal perspective to viewing daily life. Which in turn also builds a relationship with the audience through strong emotional sentiments and individual interactions

Noun: Embrace: Plural noun : embraces 1. an act of holding someone closely in one’s arms. Society announces that women are a force to be reckoned with yet their success is continuously stifled by clichÊ ideas surrounding what it means to be a woman. The female body is seen as a danger to the public even though it is one of the most natural things on this planet. Embrace showcases the female form in an intimate and celebratory was for simply what it is, beautiful. Filmography: Serena Harker Editing: Serena Harker Styling: Serena Harker Model: Melanie Fisher

Embrace was created in response to a brief set by Manchester Art Gallery to create a fashion image or film with the concept of restriction or release. Embrace focuses on the restriction that many women face in a modern society yet it showcases the progression that has been made since WW1. The female body has been considered taboo continuously throughout history due to it being highly sexualised. Embrace, however, aims to celebrate this natural beautiful form in an intimate yet neutral and passive manner.
From birth we are enclosed and suffocated by consumerism. En-Caul aims to highlight how we are force-fed by the Government and media to the point of sickness. Like Foucault suggests; We are ‘docile bodies’.
