Section 1: Read the following narrative and answer the questions that follow. When I was young i thought I knew everything, but that all changed one day after school. I was waiting for the last bell to ring and when it rang at exactly 3 o’clock, I was the first student to rush out of the class. Some of my friends had planned to hang out at the pizza shop called Mario’s Pizza. I wanted to go. I didn’t have any money. suddenly, I had a great idea on how to get money. First, I looked for mohamed, the lonely kid in my class who had no friends. He was new to the school, and he had a strange personality. However, I knew he was rich, so I figured I could trick him out of $20. After I found him, I started talking to him. At first, he ignored me and kept walking, but I didn’t give up. I started telling him that the other kids usually picked on me because and I asked him if he would be my bodyguard. Instantly, a smile crept across his face, and he agreed. After that, I told him that I was really hungry and I asked him if he could give me a few dollars so I could grab a bite to eat at mario’s pizza. To my surprise, he said no, but he offered to go with me to the pizza shop. I didn’t want my friends to see me talking to him, so I tried to make an excuse, but he insisted on coming with me since we were now friends. When we got to the restaurant, all of my friends stopped what they were doing and stared at us. Then they started teasing us and called us horrible names. I was stunned. I didn’t know what to do. Then Mohamed yelled “don’t ever make fun of my friend!” Immediately, the guys jumped on him, but then something happened that shocked everyone. Not only was Mohamed a rich kid, but he was also a black belt in Karate. Finally, he turned to me and said he was sorry I had to see that side of him come out, but he is a loyal friend and couldn’t allow anyone to hurt me. Since that day, we have remained best friends because nobody had ever defended me like that.
