Ha Thi Tam is from Nhot village in Hoa Binh province of north central Vietnam. HĂ is of White Thai heritage, and her village has a long history of weaving and small-scale farming. Before Serrvâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s partner supported her womenâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s group, their only source of income was from working in rice paddies. Now they have the opportunity to earn more income through traditional weaving on looms in their homes, and they have been offered skills training on accounting, quality control, marketing, and management.

Almost 50 women collectively make our bright quilts and throws in Kolkata, India. Combinations of recycled saris, the traditional garments commonly worn by Indian women, are layered together and then embellished with a running hand stitch (or “kantha”) to create textures and patterns that are unique to each quilt.
