Philip works with Nyabigena Soapstone Carvers Cooperative in Kenya and has been carving for 18 years. He and his wife have six children who are are all able to attend school due to his income from his work in fair trade. He has also purchased a cow with income saved from carving soapstone, and selling milk offers supplemental income between soapstone craft orders. Philip loves carving and the fact that it has provided him with a reliable way to support his family. He hopes his children will succeed in school and also secure good work for themselves.
