The energy of light
Daylight and people’s wellbeing
L i g h t b r i n g s l i fe Servodan’s revolutionary wireless Luxstat concept brings broad-spectrum, dynamic daylight into even the darkest corner of a building. The time has come to put an end to spending hours sat around in half-darkness or poor light. Life-giving daylight is now available to everyone. People need daylight There is no doubt whatsoever that daylight is an absolute necessity for people’s health and wellbeing. We can quite easily become ill if we do not get enough daylight. There is nothing strange about this, either. Humans were born to live their lives outdoors and the body’s chemistry works according to the light. It is the reason why our bodies suffer when we travel to the other side of the world and it is suddenly night when it should be day. It is also the reason why five per cent of us suffer from seasonal affective disorder every year. And doing shift-work, for
example, increases the risk of a wide range of life-threatening illnesses. It is just the way things are; it is the natural order. Dynamic daylight 24/7 Servodan’s ground-breaking lighting concept enables the composition and tones of daylight, and how these change during the day, to be recreated. This makes it possible to provide “artificial” daylight even in the darkest corners of a building, where there would otherwise not even be the smallest shaft of daylight. For example, the night shift will in future be able to work in pleasant daylight, doctors in operating rooms will be able to operate in daylight instead of in closed, sealed rooms without windows, and workplaces in the middle of a building, in a basement or similar dark places could suddenly become more acceptable places to work.
Yes, everyone could actually work in the office environment as if next to a window with daylight. Just think of the massive improvement this would make to the working environment and people’s mood, wellbeing and efficiency. Solutions for every application The wireless Luxstat concept is about much more than just daylight. There are numerous combination options, and the elements of the concept can be assembled to form exactly the solution that you need.
The wirel e s s L u x s t a t co n ce pt is a va ila ble in th ree ba sic a pplicatio ns :
1 1. Wireless control of dynamic daylight The optimum daylight solution typically consists of a “daylight window”, which is mounted on the wall and actually gives the impression that you are sitting next to a “real” window. The composition and tones of daylight, and its changes throughout the day, are simulated by the window, while 3D images give the impression of looking out over a countryside scene. 2
LED dynamic daylight luminaires mounted in the ceiling complement the solution and create the visual impression that you can see the sky and clouds. Everything is combined in Servodan’s wireless Luxstat concept.
2 2. Wireless control of static LED ceiling and wall lighting Together with the wireless Luxstat concept, we can supply LED luminaires for ceiling mounting that are considerably more energy-efficient than traditional luminaires. Currently, energy savings are in the region of 50%. With the rapid development of LED technology, LED lights will soon become even more competitive in terms of energy consumption and price.

Free choice Servodan’s wireless Luxstat concept is, therefore, not an “either-or” solution. It can be taken from “all shelves” and the solution is put together exactly to your wishes. Whether you simply want wireless control of existing traditional luminaires, or traditional luminaires combined with LED lights in the ceiling or on the wall. Or even the complete solution with dynamic daylight on the wall and in the ceiling – this will be no problem. The wireless Luxstat control can handle all possible applications and therefore sets completely new standards in lighting for the world’s rooms and workplaces. It benefits people’s wellbeing at the workplace and – not least – nature, through minimal energy consumption.

Significant energy savings
Lighting control that benefits people …and the environment Servodan’s wireless Luxstat concept provides visible savings throughout. The fact that LED technology is significantly more energy efficient than traditional light sources, such as incandescent light bulbs, fluorescent tubes and even energy-saving bulbs, has been proven beyond doubt. And, as LED technology marches forward and becomes increasingly energy efficient, this gap will become even greater in the years to come. Switching from traditional light sources to energy efficient LED solutions will save you money on your electricity bill, meaning that your investment will pay for itself in a relatively short space of time. At the same time, LEDs have a lifetime 5-6 times longer than that of traditional fluorescent tubes. This can save you significant amounts on your operating account as you can easily cut down on your time and resource
budget in terms of replacing fluorescent tubes. Servodan’s wireless Luxstat concept also enables you to create zonal lighting control in all rooms while benefiting from installation costs significantly lower than equivalent prewired installations. This helps you to minimise your energy consumption by creating intelligent light control which comes on and goes off as required, and it also means that you can renovate and modify areas without having to lay new cables to your installations. Finally, you can use Servodan’s unique Desk control to ensure that the light and all other connected electrical equipment, such as printers, photocopiers, etc., are automatically switched off when the room is empty, at the end of the working day for example.
The environment benefits, too At a time when there is a major focus on energy consumption and reducing CO2 emissions, Servodan’s wireless concept helps you to help nature and at the same time see the results of your energy efficiency investment on the bottom line.

on LED lighting from red, green, blue and white LED bulbs, which combines to create a broad spectrum, dynamic daylight that changes in intensity and colour throughout the day.
People and daylight There is a great deal of research showing a clear relationship between our wellbeing and the amount of daylight we are exposed to. This is why there is always a great demand to sit next to a window in an office environment, and it is also why shift work is not without its risks, purely from a health perspective.
Dynamic daylight The complete daylight solution typically consists of a number of LED ceiling-mounted luminaires for dynamic daylight and a 3D image of a blue sky. These ceiling-mounted LED luminaires are complemented by a daylight window mounted on the wall, where there is no natural daylight, or only very little. The daylight window is equipped with a 3D image that creates the visual impression of looking out of a real window – a countryside scene, for example.
You can now significantly improve these conditions using Servodan’s daylight concept that brings daylight into a room where previously this was not possible. Rooms in the middle of a building, corridors, basement areas, operating rooms, lifts – the application possibilities are virtually endless. Dynamic daylight is based
other wireless components complete the solution, which provides optimum comfort and lighting conditions for the users of the room in question, while at the same time significantly reducing energy consumption compared with current light sources. Both ceiling luminaires and the daylight window are preset to vary in intensity and colour composition throughout the day – just like real daylight. Users can also change the light intensity and colour spectra settings using a number of predefined lighting scenarios with easy-to-use software on their computers.
The whole system is controlled by the wireless Luxstat controller, which is pre-programmed for a range of standard applications. Light sensors, movement sensors, switches and
