THE BRIEF ‘BRIEF’
“Choose a life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a f*cking big television. Choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players and electrical tin openers... Choose DSY and wondering who the f*ck you are on a Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing, spirit crushing game shows, sticking junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away in the end of it all, pushing your last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, f*cked up brats you spawned to replace yourself, choose your future. Choose life... But why would I want to do a thing like that?”
Taken from Irvine Welsh’s Trainspotting. In the end we all know he chose heroin. But heroin and ethics aside, are we not succumbed to every single choice before that? Choosing the next phone, who we vote on television, who becomes the next idol. Are we not tied up and led to make unimportant decisions on a daily basis? Have we been sucked dry by media zeal and tricked into becoming mind-numbing obsession opinionated individuals? Yes ‘Taksub’ is the theme and obsession is the game. Write and/or illustrate and/or photograph your views on how you view this obsessed world. It could be about that the world is obsessed with thousand ringgit clothing or even to the Starchitects, whose image of architecture has greatly skewed our roles to the public and how the public perceive the profession, to the immaculate image of which school you came from, what degree you earned. You are your own view to the world.
Sesi Suara openly welcomes non-architectural backgrounds to submit as we believe that architecture is a collective knowledge, and that collective knowledge is the product of a multitude.

Submission Guidelines:
A. External contributors can either accept the proposed interpretative point of view or react with new interpretations of the case studies. B. All illustrations and drawings should be submitted digitally (in .png or .jpg format). Please include a numbered list of all illustrations and provide the following information for each: illustration source, name of photographer or artist, name of copyright holder, or “no copyright”, and caption, if needed C. Contributors whose work is selected for publication in Sesi Suara will be informed and will then start collaborating with Sesi Suaraʼs editorial board in order to complete the preparation of the issue. D. Contributions may be Submitted in Bahasa Melayu as well as in English as the medium your most comfortable with is the one able to bring clarity to the message
