WHAT MAKES MCCM DIFFERENT?

Mary was introduced to rehabilitation at a young age. Her brother sustained a brain injury as a premature baby, his resilience and her parents’ strength in their battles to achieve the best for their son has been an inspiration. Later in life Mary’s mother was involved in a road traffic collision which resulted in a life changing spinal injury. These experiences shaped her career path as a Specialist Neurological Occupational Therapist within the NHS and then a Brain injury Case Manager within litigation. Mary has learnt the importance of family involvement and communication from being part of a family on the receiving end of rehabilitation

Mary is experienced in supporting parents, either those who have sustained brain injuries or the parents of clients who have sustained injuries. Assisting parents with brain injuries in their rehabilitation to resume their role of ‘parent’ and manage the care of their children, whilst acknowledging the development of their children and the impact on their lives. Mary has supported parents of brain injured clients. Providing them with reassurance that their children will be well supported in their later years, acknowledging the concerns of the parents and the conflict they face as the carer/parent roles blur.

Mary is experienced in supporting parents, either those who have sustained brain injuries or the parents of clients who have sustained injuries.

The infrastructure Mary has set up at MCCM allows her to work flexibly and accommodate her client’s needs, whether that be an evening appointment or a meeting at school or work.

Mary demonstrates empathy to her clients and their families knowing first-hand how challenging these circumstances can be. Mary thrives on the challenges she faces as a case Manager. ■
