Designed and manufactured in Finland and tailor-made from 100% natural wood, Mölkky is a skittle throwing game that has been delighting players all over the world for decades. It’s a fun combination of chance and skill and it’s quick to learn and exciting to play.

Every skittle scores a little

You take it in turns to throw the Mölkky skittle to try to knock over various numbered pins. The aim of the game is to score exactly 50 points. Think strategically and aim well. If you knock one skittle down, you’ll score the number on the pin (between 1 and 12). If more than one skittle falls, then the score is the number of fallen pins. Watch out though because if you get more than 50 then your score falls back down to 25 and if you miss three times in a row then you’re out of the game. Anyone can play Mölkky, regardless of age or fitness level. You can play one-on-one or gather a team together –the more the merrier! The game is ideal for outdoor summer fun in the garden, on the beach or at a picnic in the park and it will encourage children to put down their devices and head outside to play. With a sturdy wooden carry crate, you can also take it wherever you go, so pack Mölkky Original in the car for trips away. You can even play it at weddings.

Calling the next UK champion

You may be surprised to read there is an annual UK Mölkky Championships where you can take on the country’s best players and show off your throwing and tactical skills. When you get really good at playing Mölkky, you can even challenge for the World Champion title and compete on the international stage. Japan will host the tournament in 2024, the first time it will have been held outside Europe, showing just how much Mölkky has grown in popularity around the world.

Game on

Tactic Games also has some other classic outdoor games in its portfolio that you can enjoy playing together this summer. Kubb is another traditional wooden garden game where you knock over the skittles and the King. But be careful, if the King falls before the other skittles you will hand the game to your opponent. Tactic’s Bean Bag Game is a firm family favourite and sells out every summer and then, for families with sporty children, see how many goals they can score with Banana Kick down at your local park, but remember, the banana doesn’t always go where you want it to!
