HOBBIES E FCORUE S R ES

Welcome Learning Programme Welcome 2015 Welcome to the fifth year of Severnside’s Learning Programme which is packed full of FREE short courses and training sessions to help you develop new skills or build on existing ones. As well as all the old favourites we have introduced a number of great new courses including responsible dog ownership, writing a will and a guide to self-employment. We also offer a large selection of accredited courses like food hygiene and health & safety in the work place, which is fantastic news for anyone seeking employment. Courses are free to Severnside residents and we can also help with transport and childcare costs if necessary. We are delighted to report that last year’s Learning Programme was a great success; over 435 people attended training sessions and from those surveyed 85% were highly satisfied with their course! As always, Severnside would like to say a massive thank you to all our partners and staff for their help and support in delivering this year’s Learning Programme. Why not take a look through our Learning Programme and sign up to take part - there really is something for everyone, no matter what your age or ability and everyone is made to feel really welcome.

“The courses have helped me to be able to increase my confidence and have also helped with getting out of the house and to meet new people.”

You can book your courses by: • Calling us on 01743 285000 or 0300 300 0059 • Booking on our website www.severnsidehousing.co.uk • Completing and returning the booking form at the back of this programme • Emailing us at community@severnsidehousing.co.uk Remember to tell us the name and date of the courses you’re interested in, along with the course code.

“Cooking on a budget was very interesting with good company and new ways of cooking and preparing food. It was also very informative and people learnt things that they may not have known how to do before. It was also an opportunity to try new food which was also very tasty!”

“The IT course has helped me to increase my confidence in being able to use a laptop and to send emails.”

“I have become a bit of a recluse due to the restriction of a wheel chair, and taking part in these courses has allowed me to get out and have more interaction with a new range of people. ”

2

No matter what your age or ability, everyone is welcome, so have a look through this programme and let us know which courses you’d like to take part in.

Please note that priority for bookings will always be given to Severnside residents.

Sarah Boden, Chief Executive

“The course provided a lot of different things to do, it was also very hands on and well prepared. A lot was learnt from the course and there were great tips for gardening. Friendly atmosphere and a good way to socialise with other people.”

This is a guide to all the courses that we offer, many in partnership with other organisations.

“Very inspiring with a lot of different ideas of things to create, with a very helpful tutor. It was also a very good way to meet new people and socialise.”

“I would not have been able to afford any of these courses myself, so I am very grateful to have the privilege of having them paid for me – it shows Severnside Housing values and invests in their residents. Thank you for enabling me to learn new skills and have better opportunities.”
