SEWE is proud to collaborate this year with the Charleston County Park & Recreation Commission (CCPRC). Charleston County Park & Recreation Commission is an 11,000 acre park system featuring day parks, beaches, fishing piers, waterparks, skate park, boat landings, a climbing wall, a challenge course, an interpretive center, a plantation, an equestrian and archery center, cottages, a campground, and a marina. The park system also offers a wide variety of recreational services – festivals, camps, classes, programs, and more.
The Caw Caw Interpretive Center
The Caw Caw Interpretive Center, just south of Charleston, contains a variety of SC Lowcountry habitats that are known for their beauty and wildlife. This nature and history center is comprised of over 7 miles of scenic trails and boardwalks. It is considered a birding hotspot for coastal South Carolina with over 250 species of birds sited including swallow-tailed kites and bald eagles. Visitors can encounter other rare wildlife like otters, dolphins, deer, cougars and alligators. Also at the Center, are former rice fields dating from the 18th century and thousands of naturalized tea plants from a 20th century tea farm.
Combing the Caw Caw Wilderness Tour

The Caw Caw Interpretive Center just south of Charleston contains a variety of South Carolina Lowcountry habitats that are known for their beauty and wildlife. Join a naturalist to explore a cypress/ tupelo swamp, freshwater marsh, saltwater marsh, and bottomland hardwood forest. Eagles, turkeys, otters, waterfowl, and more are often observed from the trails at Caw Caw. There’s no better way to learn about the wilds of the South Carolina Lowcountry.
