ACCELERATING PROGRESS ACROSS CAMPUS

Transformative change has begun on Sewickley Academy’s campus as a result of the largest single gift in the 184-year history of the school. In February 2022, SA announced that a $20 million donation had been received and would be dedicated to program and faculty support, scholarships, and facility enhancements. These developments have been made possible by a gift from The Tull Family Foundation. Founded by Sewickley residents Thomas Tull, founder and CEO of Tulco LLC, and his wife, Alba Tull, the Foundation is committed to transforming the lives of people in traditionally underserved and underfunded communities. This investment and the shared vision and values with Sewickley Academy allow the school to accelerate its established strategic goals. Spread across the Academy’s fundamental pillars, this funding opens endless possibilities for students to experience an education unmatched elsewhere and enable them to achieve their fullest potential.

As we continue to position the Academy for the future and prepare for the next 100 years, it is critical that we put in place now the academic programs and infrastructure necessary to ensure our place in this community for years to come. We have three core areas to invest in to further our growth: support for our exceptional faculty and staff; access to our school for the region’s most talented students; and upgrades to our spaces to ensure that our faculty, staff, and students can benefit from state-ofthe-art facilities. This generous donation from the Tulls enables us to do just that.”

Sewickley Academy Board of Trustees Chair Kate (Poppenberg ’82) Pigman added, “From dramatically revamping our STEM and computer science curriculum to recruiting the best teachers and building best-in-class facilities, this game-changing moment for the school cements its position as a center for academic excellence in both the region and the country.”
