MAKE UP POLICY
Services shall be provided without regard to race, religious creed, color, disability, ancestry, national origin, age or sex. Services shall be made accessible to individuals with disabilities through the most practical and economically feasible methods available. The Sewickley Valley YMCA will make every effort to accommodate non-english speaking individuals.
To meet the needs and wishes of our members, YMCA classes are tightly scheduled and often full. We ask that you choose your programs carefully as make-up and substitute classes are not possible.
PRORATED CLASSES Class fees will not be prorated for late registrations. Late registrations are accepted in most programs (late registration for swim lessons is not recommended) but will require payment of the full class fee.
BEING OUR BEST SELVES The Y community is at its best when we all are at our best. Our core values guide how we engage with each other at the Y.
THUNDER/LIGHTNING POLICY In the event of inclement weather, including thunder or lightning, the pool will close, and the pool deck will be cleared. The pool area will remain closed for 20 minutes after each flash of lightning, and/or 20 minutes after each clap of thunder. All patrons and staff must exit the pool and whirlpool. Swim lessons will typically run as scheduled and children will learn skills on the pool deck.
Caring: The Y is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for every member and guest. To promote safety and comfort for all, we ask individuals to act appropriately at all times when participating in Y programs at the Y or at off-site locations. Honesty: To carry out the Y mission, we ask that members and guests identify themselves to staff when asked, and be able to produce a Y membership card or identification upon request.
PROGRAM REFUND POLICY Refunds will be issued if notice is given at least five business days prior to the start date of the program. All refund requests must be made directly through the director of the program. Refunds will be completed in the manner by which the payment was made.
Respect: We expect persons using the Y to behave in a mature and responsible way, and to respect the rights and dignity of others. We do not permit language or any action that may hurt or frighten another person, including staff.
THIRD-PARTY SERVICES Non-YMCA staff are prohibited from conducting personal/group training, swim instruction, sports-specific training and all other instruction of others at the Sewickley Valley YMCA. Those conducting and participating in non-YMCA training will be asked to leave the property immediately and prohibited from using the facility.
Responsibility: Members and guests are encouraged to be responsible for their personal comfort and safety. Please report any offending condition or behavior to a Y staff person.
The Y reserves the right to cancel a program that does not have the minimum enrollment.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE EVERYONE IS WELCOME
The YMCA Financial Assistance program is another way the Y fulfills our mission to serve all people. At the Y, no one is turned away for an inability to pay. The Y provides financial assistance to youth, families and individuals who do not have the resources to pay the full membership or program fee. Assistance is provided for qualifying participants. Questions regarding financial assistance should be directed to Barb Herman, Membership Manager at 412-741-9622 ext. 131.
Family membership is defined as two adults and their dependent children under age 18 who live in the same household, and children under the age of 26, residing at home or in college with proper ID. College membership is defined as a full-time student up to age 26. All new or renewing members age 18 and over will be required to provide photo identification. Proper forms of identification may include a license, passport, military, student or state identification card.
YOU CAN HELP We are here for those who need us most. Over the last century, our programs and services have evolved, but our dedication to serving the changing needs of the community has always remained at the core of our mission. Financial assistance, supported by the Annual Campaign, offers programs and services of the Y to those in need. In 2017, the Sewickley Valley YMCA awarded $448,344 to individual and families in need. Your generous support for our Annual Campaign allows us to continue to meet the growing needs of the community. Working families received affordable state-licensed child care so they could work. Kids attended summer camp where they grew in confidence, learned to swim, and made memories. Families from all walks of life relied on our Y to live healthier.
CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT FEE
The Y believes that members are co-owners of this organization. As a co-owner, each member is asked to pay a one-time joining fee as a mission investment. These dollars are primarily used for non-expansion capital improvements like new equipment, building repairs and preventive maintenance. The fee may be paid in full at the time of joining or divided equally over a three-month period. Previous members who re-join within a three-year time frame will pay a rejoining fee of $100 for family and single parent family, and $75 for adult and senior memberships. Members rejoining beyond the three-year time frame will be required to pay the full Capital Development Fee.
Help support the community with a tax-deductible donation or designate the Sewickley Valley YMCA as your charity of choice United Way #286 to help those in need! For more information about donating to the YMCA, contact Amy Richardson at 412-741-9622 ext. 108.
ONLINE JOINING/ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT Members can now join the YMCA and manage their account online. Register for classes and update your account online at www.sewickleyymca.org.

LUKE WARD SUMMER DAY CAMP WHERE IT’S ALWAYS THE BEST SUMMER EVER! JUNE 11 - AUGUST 17 From sports and swimming to arts and culture, Sewickley YMCA camps are designed to engage a broad range of interests, enriching young minds and strengthening bodies.
We help kids make new friends.
We are dedicated to facilitating and fostering frienships. At the Sewickley Valley YMCA, campers are grouped by ages and each camp program incorporates team-building and friend-building activities throughout the session.
We teach kids new skills.
Regardless of the camp your child chooses, we help children learn and try new things during their time spent at the Y. Through staff support and mentoring, kids are given opportunities to build on the skills learned from the previous day as well as try new activities they have never tried before. Camps soon find that they can do things they didn’t know were possible. At Sewickley Valley YMCA, kids have the opportunity to build self-confidence, independence and creativity and parents have peace of mind knowing their kids are in a safe, enriching place. Campers make friends, explore nature, find new talents, gain independence and make lasting relationships while learning YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Unfortunately, many local families need but cannot afford a summer camp experience for their children. At the YMCA, we are committed to serving our community, regardless of socio-economic status, but we need your support. Last summer, the Y awarded $85,758 in financial assistance so that every child could attend and experience camp. Please consider a gift to support sending kids to camp at the Y.
