INFORMATION & GUIDELINES BEING OUR BEST SELVES

OPEN SWIM

The Y community is at its best when we all are at our best. Our core values guide how we engage with each other at the Y. Caring: The Y is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for every member and guest. To promote safety and comfort for all, we ask individuals to act appropriately at all times when participating in Y programs at the Y or off-site locations. Honesty: To carry out the Y mission, we ask that members and guests identify themselves to staff when asked, and be able to produce a Y membership card or identification upon request. Respect: We expect persons using the Y to behave maturely and responsibly and to respect the rights and dignity of others. We do not permit language or any action that may hurt or frighten another person, including staff. Responsibility: Members and guests are encouraged to be responsible for their comfort and safety. Please report any offending condition or behavior to a Y staff person.

An adult must accompany children under eight years of age or needing a flotation device in the water.

FAMILY SWIM Family Swim is reserved for family and adult use. A parent must accompany kids under 14. Youth ages 7 and under must be accompanied by a parent in the water for Family Swim. Private lessons or trainings will occasionally use the pool during Family Swim time.

MAKE UP POLICY To meet the needs and wishes of our members, YMCA classes are tightly scheduled and often full. We ask that you choose your programs carefully as make-up and substitute classes are not possible.

MOBILE DEVICES Cell phones or any devices capable of taking photos are not permitted to be used at any time in the locker rooms. Please be respectful of your fellow members.

ONE FREE SWIM LESSON We offer one free swim lesson per the calendar year for each child under 12 and on an active Family Membership. This extends to include preschool-level swim lessons as well. Additional lessons will be charged at the member rate for children on active Family Memberships. Participants must register at the YMCA for the free lesson. Refunds will not be provided.

OPEN TO ALL Services shall be provided without regard to race, religious creed, color, disability, ancestry, national origin, age or sex. Services shall be made accessible to individuals with disabilities through the most practical and economically feasible methods available. The Sewickley Valley YMCA will make every effort to accommodate Non-English speaking individuals.

PROGRAM CANCELLATION The Y reserves the right to cancel a program that does not have the minimum enrollment.

PROGRAM REFUND POLICY Refunds will be issued if notice is given at least five business days before the start date of the program. All refund requests must be made directly through the director of the program. Refunds will be completed in the manner by which the payment was made.

PRORATED CLASSES Class fees will not be prorated for late registrations. Late registrations are accepted in most programs (late registration for swim lessons is not recommended) but will require payment of the full class fee.

THIRD-PARTY SERVICES Non-YMCA staff are prohibited from conducting personal/group training, swim instruction, sports-specific training and all other instruction of others at the Sewickley Valley YMCA. Those leading and participating in the non-YMCA training will be asked to leave the property immediately and prohibited from using the facility.

Over the last century, our programs and services have evolved, but our dedication to serving the changing needs of the community has always remained at the core of our mission. Financial assistance, supported by the Annual Campaign, offers programs and services of the Y to those in need. Your generous support for our Annual Campaign allows us to continue to meet the growing needs of the community. Working families received affordable state-licensed child care so they could work. Kids attended a summer camp where they grew in confidence, learned to swim, and made memories. Help support the community with a tax-deductible donation or designate the Sewickley Valley YMCA as your charity of choice United Way #286 to help those in need! Contact Amy Richardson at 412-741-9622 ext. 108 for more information about donating to the Sewickley Valley YMCA.

ENSURE A BRIGHTER SUMMER At YMCA Summer Day Camp, we believe we create something special—a sense of magic that helps build the leaders of tomorrow. Each day we build a sense of community where children feel whole, where common ground and equality is in abundance, differences are seen as assets and there is an opportunity for all. With your help, we can ensure that no child is denied a chance to participate because of their family’s inability to pay. Please help ensure that every child and teen, regardless of means, can experience the magic of camp by donating to the Annual Campaign!
