MISSION

To build a healthy spirit, mind and body based on Christian principles and to improve the quality of life for children, individuals and families in the Ambridge Area, Cornell, Moon Area and Quaker Valley school districts.

ABOUT OUR Y The Y will always be dedicated to building healthy, confident, and connected children, adults, families, and communities. Every day our impact is felt when an individual makes a healthy choice, a mentor inspires a child and a community comes together to make a difference.

CHILD WATCH WHILE YOU WORK OUT Parents and guardians can use our Child Watch service for up to three hours while they are participating in a Y class, activity or while working out in the facility. Child Watch is free as a Sewickley Valley YMCA member benefit, and $3 per child for all non-members.

A VARIETY OF PROGRAMS FOR CHILDREN

FAMILIES CONNECT WITH THE COMMUNITY

The Y keeps pace with your child’s curious and fun-loving spirit with programs like: • Art Class • Camp • Family Events • Gymnastics • Sports • Swim Lessons • Swim Team

Get together with friends, family, and neighbors. Play games, access the internet or kick back and relax. It all starts here, where you belong.

BENEFITS OF A Y MEMBERSHIP • Improve health and vitality while discovering a sense of well-being that goes beyond fitness. • Create healthy habits through our educational and nutrition programs. • Strengthen family bonds by participating in fun activities together such as Family Swim and Family Tang Soo Do. • Make friends and share a fun time with others among our 11,000 members. • Find personal balance and decrease stress by engaging in our Yoga, Tai Chi, and Pilates classes. • Build community connections through our social activities, clubs, and volunteer opportunities.

BUDDY UP FOR FITNESS When you refer a friend who joins, your next month’s membership will be free, and your friend will receive their sixth-month membership free. New members must not have been a member within the past 90 days and must have registered for Buddy Up for Fitness in person or online at http://bit.ly/BuddyUpforFitness when activating their membership. For more information contact the Membership Department at 412-741-9622 ext. 105 or stop by the Membership Desk.

OPEN THE DOOR TO EXCITEMENT A YMCA family membership opens the door to exciting programs designed to strengthen spirit, mind, and body. Your family will enjoy the benefits of a YMCA membership through participation in a variety of fun and healthy activities. From aquatics to wellness programs, family programs and older adult events to teen outings, the Y has something for everyone.

YOUR SAFETY IS OUR PRIORITY The safety of our members and guests who use the facility has always been a top priority at the Sewickley Valley YMCA. All adult members and guests will be screened against the national sex offender database and individuals included on the list will be denied access to the Y. Also, members and guests who are 14 and older will be required to have a photo in our membership database or present photo ID at each visit. Photos are required for Nationwide Membership and to allow our staff to accurately screen for registered sex offenders.

INFORMATION & GUIDELINES BEING OUR BEST SELVES

OPEN SWIM

The Y community is at its best when we all are at our best. Our core values guide how we engage with each other at the Y.

An adult must accompany children under eight years of age or needing a flotation device in the water.

Caring: The Y is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for every member and guest. To promote safety and comfort for all, we ask individuals to act appropriately at all times when participating in Y programs at the Y or off-site locations. Honesty: To carry out the Y mission, we ask that members and guests identify themselves to staff when asked, and be able to produce a Y membership card or identification upon request. Respect: We expect persons using the Y to behave maturely and responsibly and to respect the rights and dignity of others. We do not permit language or any action that may hurt or frighten another person, including staff. Responsibility: Members and guests are encouraged to be responsible for their comfort and safety. Please report any offending condition or behavior to a Y staff person.

FAMILY SWIM Family Swim is reserved for family and adult use. A parent must accompany kids under 14. Youth ages 7 and under must be accompanied by a parent in the water for Family Swim. Private lessons or trainings will occasionally use the pool during Family Swim time.

OPEN TO ALL Services shall be provided without regard to race, religious creed, color, disability, ancestry, national origin, age or sex. Services shall be made accessible to individuals with disabilities through the most practical and economically feasible methods available. The Sewickley Valley YMCA will make every effort to accommodate Non-English speaking individuals.

PROGRAM CANCELLATION The Y reserves the right to cancel a program that does not have the minimum enrollment.

PRORATED CLASSES Class fees will not be prorated for late registrations. Late registrations are accepted in most programs (late registration for swim lessons is not recommended) but will require payment of the full class fee.

THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

To meet the needs and wishes of our members, YMCA classes are tightly scheduled and often full. We ask that you choose your programs carefully as make-up and substitute classes are not possible.

Non-YMCA staff are prohibited from conducting personal/group training, swim instruction, sports-specific training and all other instruction of others at the Sewickley Valley YMCA. Those leading and participating in the non-YMCA training will be asked to leave the property immediately and prohibited from using the facility.

ONE FREE SWIM LESSON

YOU CAN HELP We are here for those who need us most. Over the last century, our programs and services have evolved, but our dedication to serving the changing needs of the community has always remained at the core of our mission. Financial assistance, supported by the Annual Campaign, offers programs and services of the Y to those in need. Your generous support for our Annual Campaign allows us to continue to meet the growing needs of the community. Working families received affordable state-licensed child care so they could work. Kids attended a summer camp where they grew in confidence, learned to swim, and made memories. Help support the community with a tax-deductible donation or designate the Sewickley Valley YMCA as your charity of choice United Way #286 to help those in need! Contact Amy Richardson at 412-741-9622 ext. 108 for more information about donating to the Sewickley Valley YMCA.

At the heart of the YMCA lies the power to transform—both yourself and the world around you. We know the challenges that we face in our community. People of all ages and backgrounds are struggling to reach their full potential. Children start kindergarten underprepared and fall behind their peers as they progress through school. Families find it difficult to spend quality time together. Playing outside has become a rarity. Facetime happens through a phone. But where society falls short, the Y – and donors like you – step in, together we are empowering and can make a difference. The impact of your gift is felt when: • A girl discovers she can swim the length of the pool creating a wave of confidence. • A boy attends school-age child care, and YMCA staff opens a whole new world while reading support fills the gaps. • A family discovers a place to belong regardless of their ability to pay.
