We will expand our robotics skills as we learn about the technology behind our EV3 robots. We will pair LittleBits with our EV3 robots to dig deeper into what it takes to create a robot. This class will culminate in an end-of-class project that will be unique to this course and will exhibit and apply learned skills.

Introduction To 3D Printing - Part II

In this course we will continue to build on 3D printing techniques covered in Introductory 3D Printing class. Participants will learn to calibrate and tune 3D printers for optimal prints. Develop and print your own 3D designs with either the Ultimaker 2 or Printerbot Simple Metal 3D printers. This class is meant to be a hands-on course that can be taken independently from the Introduction to 3D Printing course. No previous experience is required but having taken the first class is recommended.

Learn about Ayurveda, the oldest healthcare system on earth and how to prepare delicious vegetarian dishes that promote good health. Bring your appetite, delicious dinner included.

Making Fresh Gnocchi

Learn to make homemade Gnocchi and Pesto sauce. In this class students will make their own fresh pasta and the instructor will make the fresh sauce to pair with the pasta in front of the class. At the end of each class the students will eat his/her pasta prepared with the fresh sauce or they may take it home for preparation at a later date. This is a hands-on class so proper attire of an apron and removal of jewelry is recommended. Printed recipes will be given to each student. Note taking during class.

Aerial fitness combines the conditioning exercises used by circus acrobats for increased strength, flexibility, and focus. Students will train on a variety of aerial apparatuses (silks, trapeze, lyra) while working on core strength, endurance, flexibility and balance. All new students work at low flying levels (2-3 feet off the ground) with high density foam crash pads for safety. Good physical condition is required.

Intro To Capoeira

This intro course is for students with no previous experience. After completion, students will be presented with their first “cord” (belt). Meditation, Mantra, Pranayama

Yoga literally means to yoke or to join the Mind, Body and Spirit together. Learn and practice techniques for meditation, mantra (recitation of sacred, sanskrit sounds to aid in concentration and meditation), pranayama (breath exercises/ observances) as well as some physical postures /movements (most standing) cultivating harmony between the Mind, Body and Spirit.

Intro To Tai Chi And QiGong

Students will be introduced to the basic movements of Yang style Tai Chi, as well as the ancient art of QiGong. Both of these martial arts are low impact and easy for all ages to learn. No physical requirements.

project saint Project SAINT—Student Access and Inclusion Together, is a 1-2 year mentored, inclusive college experience at SF College’s NW campus, for young intellectually disabled adults in transition. Students create a personalized plan of 15-20 hours weekly of academics, vocational preparation and internships, and social and recreational opportunities all of which addresses students’ goals for lifelong independence. This is a small, highly selective program, available by application only. The fees for Project SAINT are $750.00 each 1/2 term, or $1500 each term, fall and spring only.

1. Online - Go to www.sfcollege.edu/cied/communityed/ and click “Take A Class”.

You may drop a class and receive a full refund by calling the Community Education office DURING THE FIRST TWO WEEKS OF THE COMMUNITY EDUCATION TERM for any class 2 weeks or longer in length. For shorter classes, you must drop the class at least 2 business days before the class begins to receive a refund. After that, you must fill out a petition for refund. See website for refund policies. You will receive a refund check in the mail in approximately 3—4 weeks. Your credit card account will NOT be credited for the amount.

2. Telephone - Call (352) 395-5193. Pay with Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express. 3. Office - Hours are 8am—4:30pm, Monday-Friday. Pay with

Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express, cash or check. Cash must be exact amount; no change is available.

4. Mail - Go to www.sfcollege.edu/cied/communityed/ and click “Registration” to print a registration form. Complete the form and attach check payable to SF College. Mail to Community Education.

CANCELLATION POLICY Community Education reserves the right to cancel classes based on low enrollment or other causes. The student will be notified in advance, and a full refund will be provided.

ONSITE REGISTRATION Call 352-395-5193 the day before 1st class to see if space is available. Fees must be paid at registration by check, money order, MasterCard, Visa, Discover or American Express. Cash CAN NOT be accepted at on-site registration for Community Education.

GENERAL INFORMATION If you need special help because of physical disabilities, please contact Community Education at (352) 395-5193. Community Education reserves the right to add or delete without notice any courses offered in this catalog, or to alter the fees or costs.

SENIORS Community Education classes for seniors 60 years and older may have their registration fees waived for some classes if: 1) they register the first night of class - students who register before the class begins or register online will pay full price for the course; no refunds, no exceptions; 2) space is available in the class, and 3) the class has met the required minimum seats filled. The student must pay all lab fees or additional fees. Please check space availability by calling (352) 395-5193 the day before 1st class. Some classes do not allow senior waivers.
