Tis the season! Yes, it is here – and while we all look forward to Holidays filled with fun festivities, good food and family, it is no secret that this time of year can sometimes be one of the most stressful. Well, no worries, because SF Magazine has got you covered! This months’ issue is jam-packed with ideas for the holiday season; whether your Sim is planning on attending that coveted black tie-affair, visiting with family and friends; or just planning a night in with loved ones – we got it all! In the mood to party and not sure what ya going to wear; then why not check out some of this month’s fashion editorials – we got PLENTY of ‘em. Star Stylist and designer; Lorandia’s Premier Collection; “Spiked” is definitely a good place to start, if something new is what you are looking for. In more of a laid back mood? Then check out some styling ideas from DarkoSims’ aptly titled “The Party”. Formal looks abound, as well this issue with editorials by some of our star staffers; Dustydreamer, Allium and Simanims and celebrity guest photographer, the ever fashionable Cbon’s “High Society.” If your focus is more on decorating for the festivities, our talented –and now official SF staffer- linday has some modern ideas for you. And if you’re looking to escape from it altogether…then have a look at the interior design teams’ recent collaboration – Desert Palms Casino! Finally, lest we forget, a warm welcome to our new interior staffers Mythago and hmsdrco2001! Living on the edge. Is it every man’s fantasy? Does he like to live a little dangerously? Maybe he just likes to look the part. Whatever his motive may be, there are few materials that better exude a sense of edginess than leather and metal; and when you put them together, watch out! Dark colors work best for this look and don’t be afraid to to use pieces that have a lot of shine. Choose a few well placed details like chains, spikes, buckles or studs, but try not to overdo it. t’s always fun to watch a designer get so good so FAST. From the start, TSR Select Artist April has been one to watch. Her gorgeous creations just keep getting better and better. She’s definitely a mini-site we always visit when we’re looking for just the right something sparkly. -April- was kind enough to take some time to chat with us. Let’s get to it...
Please, tell us a bit about yourself? Hey! My name is Christina, I’m 15 and I live in Samara, Russia. I love drawing in Photoshop, watching TV-series and listening to my favorite music; Florence + the Machine, Imagine Dragons and Lana Del Rey, and, obviously, creating stuff for the Sims. I’m planning on entering some design university in future. Now I’m a Select Artist at TSR and I’m featured by SF Magazine. So I’m pretty happy about my life. :) From the first, your dresses were awesome quality but your latest creations have really stepped it up. What’s inspiring you these days? Thank you! Well, my main inspiration is music or movies, but I also try to follow some of my favorite fashion designers, as Elie Saab and Zuhair Murad. I wish I could at least see their dresses in real life, as those designers are just AMAZING, and they definitely inspire me to create. Most of your Sim designs are so GLAM. How would you describe your personal style? It may sound funny... I don’t wear dresses. At all. I guess I create enough of them for Sims :D But I prefer to combine some
images or don’t send images at all, they try to describe what they want to see, so I can’t create it. And requests is a good way of contacting with people who follow you, so it’s a real pleasure for me. And people also ask me if I have Tumblr. They say I use a lot of fangirl-ish terms... :) How did you get started creating for The Sims 3? What advice would you give aspiring creators? Well, at first, I tried to create for Sims 2, and I was a big fan of this game and I still love playing it (nostalgia). Then, when Sims 3 released, I was looking forward for a way to create stuff for the game, and finally TSR staff created TSR workshop and I started to practise my photoshop skills. And that was 3 years ago. Oh. My. God. I’m not good at advising, but I want to say for casual clothes with many accessories. It makes a good impression, I think. I usually buy stuff from H&M, this place is a paradise for me, I just LOVE their vintage-feel tops, printed pants, leather jackets... I notice you take requests and invite comments by posting your email. You wouldn’t believe how tough it is to get in contact with some creators. What kind of response have you had from the community? I got some requests, but unfortunately sometimes people send me small size

those who only starts to create: never be afraid of experiments! Find your unique style, create things you like and pay attention to the quality of your work. :) Who are some of your favorite creators and why? I love PradaSims for his unique style and really quality work, which is very hard to find in the community. I also love RustyNail for creating SO fashionable and quality stuff for both teens and adults, and even elders. NewSea is my favorite hairstyle creator. And my fav makeup artists are Gosik and PralineSims. By the way,
girls (PralineSims) are my good TSR friends. :) And Gosik also creates beautiful furniture sets. Ok. Totally off-topic... How do you get those AMAZING glittery textures?!?!? Haha, well, I spend A LOT of time searching for good quality textures, then I try to save the right shapes and glittering parts of it while Photoshopping and voila! :) So there’s no special way of making sequin dresses, just a lot of work. I can only imagine... In closing, tell us what you would like to see more of in the Sims community and the Sims game as a whole? I’m looking forward for the next EP - Seasons. I can’t tell you how long I’ve been waiting for it! I expect to see new up & coming Sims 3 creators, it’s always great to see someone getting better and better at creating. :) Thank you, SF Magazine!

e like all kinds of Sims roaming about our hood. Sometimes they’re GLAM, sometimes not. Sometimes button cute, sometimes geeky. Sometimes you just want the boy or girl next door. You know, if the you lived in a really good neighborhood and the boy next door just happened to be super cute. Although builds are really her thing, downloading Sims by Wibs are a breath of fresh air. They look like people you know... only well... better looking. We hunted Wibs down -actually it was really more like stalking... sorry Wibs- and she was kind enough to chat with us.... Please, tell us a bit about yourself? I’m from Norway, my friends call me Wibs (sort of short for my real name) and it’s pronounced with a V - in Norway the W is just a fancy V. I just got a new job as a restaurant manager, which I’m quite excited about. My favorite band is My Chemical Romance – hence my über lame username Chemicalwibs on the officials. I love your blog. Your personality comes through in a fresh open way. Why did you decide to start one? Thank you. I have always enjoyed visiting other Simmers’ blogs, but it wasn’t until I got serious about sharing my own creations that I thought about starting one myself. In the beginning I felt like I was talking to myself, I’m sure most bloggers can relate to that. But I worked hard at advertising it in the community, and it’s doing a lot better now than I would have thought. So thank you to everyone who stops by, your visits are much appreciated. What drew you to The Sims 3? I had just gotten my new Mac in June ‘09 and I thought I would treat myself to a game as well. The Sims 3 was the first game I saw when I came into the store, huges displays everywhere as it had just been released. I remembered my friend always talked about The Sims 2 and how much fun it was. And so I bought it. Best decision ever. I had no idea back then it would become such a big part of my life. 101
What are some of the joys of creating for The Sims? What are some of the challenges? For me it’s when I have an idea, whether it be for a Sim or a build, and it works out as I had planned. The challenge is that not everything is doable in The Sims 3, even with cheats, CC, sliders, mods etc. So you have to work around that and find other solutions to your ideas. When you’re creating your Sims, what inspires you? People, I like to study faces and look at features. Mostly in magazines. I’m not good at making Sims based on real people, but I like to use certain features I see on real people and make a Sim from that. I’m probably opening a door here, but you’ve been pretty vocal about life as a Mac

simmer. Tell us a little about it? I love my Mac and I love my Sims – unfortunately the 2 of them don’t always go so well together. Though I’ve been quite lucky as my game runs fine for the most part, except for minor issues – most of which are fixed by Twallan’s excellent mods. But there are so many Mac Simmers who can’t even play the game because of all the issues. And it’s no secret that EA is pretty much ignoring “their beloved Mac folk”. To qote a fellow Mac Simmer: “I think EA should stop pretending the game runs just as well on a Mac as it does on Windows. It never has, and it’s been getting worse with every expansion...” Indeed. So what’s going on with the Coopers? Ah, my favorite family! They’re doing great, haven’t played them for a little while as I’ve been prepping a new town for them. I’m moving them from Lucky Palms to a smaller world, Eltham’s Drift by Neuroticrobotic – looks awesome, but I don’t have Pets so I had to replace some community lots. So yeah, getting ready to spend some quality time with them again. In closing, tell us what you would like to see more of in the Sims community and the Sims as a whole? I would like to see more people try and create their own stuff instead of stealing and ripping off other creators. There is too much plagiarism in the community. And for the Sims, more focus on actual game play features instead of this social bullcrap they introduced with Showtime. That being said, I am excited about Seasons and the new features that has to offer.

On our SF shoots our models and photographers sure do have fun behind the scenes. It’s a glitter filled, perfume clouded, makeup spilling, camera clicking, hair styling, clothes fitting, fashion

chaos! Throw in some music, finger foods, and a little wine for after the shoots are done, and it’s a fashionista’s dream setting. But don’t think it is all fun and games on set; our models work hard posing, our stylists work hard styling and our photographers work hard capturing that image that just takes

your breath away. At this shoot we have given you a sneak peek into just how hectic behind the scenes can be. It’s a work of art really; our models move flawlessly from one set to another and the stylists work tirelessly getting them there. Outdoors shoots

Lore has been an icon on the Sims fashion scene almost since she began creating. This is her vision of an elegant holiday collection. And it is, of course. Memorable naturally, but still fun. This is elegant with an edge. And we LOVE it!!! We played around with what to call this Collection. Little Black Dress? Not quite. What about that wrist candy and those statement rings? In the end we just took a hint from Lore and just called it; “Spiked.”

Today I opened my door and the cold wind whipped in and I remembered. Crap. I installed Seasons a few days ago. I wasn’t even paying attention when the ever balmy breezes of summer turned into the hawklike winds of fall. Well... the rain should have been my first guess but still. Let me be the first to tell you, the glorious change of seasons and the end of a Sims eternal summer has a dark side. Now I have… a concern. Let’s talk about it. We’ve got time and I’ve got a lot of dead space to fill around these most excellent pictures. Yesterday I was hanging around Central Park and the grass was not quite so green, the leaves were all glorious the shades that only Autumn in Pleasant Valley can provide and all I saw was terribly tacky townies in Summer wear. I mean what? Does it take a

blizzard to trigger the coat gene? Right then I made a solemn vow that SomeSimGuy was going to dress for the season. Whatever the season may be. And then I realized my dilemma. Here it is. When the Seasons change a Sim guy can find himself…. challenged. I mean, summer is easy. Some board shorts, a tank top, a few sit ups and a push up or twelve and viola. Beach time!
Spring’s just as easy. Break out the khaki, a nice button down. Styling! Winter? Meh, when it gets here, it’ll be simplicity in itself. Can’t go wrong with a sweater. Maybe a coat once the snow starts to fall. I got plenty of choices already in my outerwear catalogue (thanks EA). But that in between time, when the leaves are changing and the temperature’s dropping? I mean there is no blueprint. It’s wide open and quite frankly this Sim guy finds it a little tough to put a good look together.
So, once again I turn to the pages of SF, and right on time the dashing stylings of Doctor Musix come to the rescue. Alas no. I am not one of the enviously handsome Sims in a single one of these shots. I have never once thrown my arm in camaraderie around the shoulders of the guy next to me in the park. That’s fashion shoot stuff and sorry ladies, I’m no model. But I gotta love the ideas I’m getting from this shoot. I get it. Fashion impaired townies take note. Fall’s all about texture. No, not all over. You can save the full on tweed for Sherlock Holmes. I’m talking a nubby sweater vest under a tailored jacket. Maybe a worsted wool coat and leather gloves. Fall clothes are… touchable. Oh! And warm colors. Yes! Bring on the earth tones. Swath me in browns, greens, maybe a little navy blue. My new Fall fashion vision has a hint of pattern here and there. You know, a splash of eye catching color in the details. Oh yes, and the tailoring. NOW is the time to show off those vests and layers. In the Fall my jacket can hang fashionably open and I won’t freeze my tucas off. Yes, tucas. I had a Yiddish grandmother… sue me. This is how you do it. I knew Dr. M would set me right. Hopefully you’ve been studying these pics and taking notes. I know I have. Don’t think we can’t see you. And for goodness sakes, STOP blaming your lack of fashion sense on the Inappropriate trait… No one is fooled.

Meet Me Under the Mistletoe.
That’s what we think when we’re planning that perfect holiday look. The drama or red lips, bold blush and glittering lids can’t be denied. It’s a classic for a reason. Remember bold is the goal but your Sim wants elegant femme fatale... not overdone clown. Play around with your opacity until you get that perfect smudged look.
Mulberry Lips for the Win.
Mulberry is the new red. All of the flash and none of the trashy connotations. Mulberry lips and glamour go way back. It’s the hot lip for the
holiday season and made a major showing of Fall/Winter runways in general. Stay neutral with this one. Not too shiney. Not too matte.
Earth Tones Shine Too.
Subtle can sparkle just like bold tones. CAS lids with a slightly lighter hint of color and blend down that opacity. For the liner a soft green or even turquoise is still attention grabbing even if screaming shades aren’t your thing. Finish with a pale rose or blush lip. Matte is perfect here so nothing takes away from those eyes.

e don’t know much about Russian builder and interior designer Julia personally, but what we can say is that she is creating some incredibly delightful homes and cottages. Her creations are not for the CC shy – each little jewel is packed full of intricate details and delights that will transfer into your game upon installation. Because of the sheer number of detailed items on each of these spectacular lots you will find it takes a bit of time to install, but if you and your computer are up for it you will find your patience pays off when you wander through each room gasping in awe at the little surprises filling every nook and cranny.

ur focus this issue is on the elusive, but masterful creators at Vitasims. We were unfortunately unable to contact Vitasims directly to find out more about the creators themselves, but what we can tell is that they demonstrate incredible attention to detail with an artistic flair that compares to none. Vita offers both free and donation items, each category having the same masterful attention to details. Many items have limited or no colour channels to manipulate which may be frustrating for some
designers, however making minor alterations can allow you to achieve the look that you are aiming for. While the overall style of items tends towards the ornate, Vita is incredibly versatile and can masterfully depict a bedroom in Venice, a modern loft, a child’s nursery or a holiday celebration. We are particularly struck by the attention to the smallest of details that give an absolutely realistic appearance that allows you to feel like you can actually touch the fabrics or run your hands along the carvings of the wood.

World Showcase Arkham by Martine
I present to you: Arkham! This island world was inspired by, and named after, H.P. Lovecraft’s mysterious Arkham city, which is the backdrop for many of his stories. This Sims version of Arkham is a city world, divided into 3 main parts; an uptown area, a grungy industrial area and a small island. There are 61 empty lots in total, 39 community lots and 22 residential lots. The lot assignments can easily be changed in-game of course. All street names are inspired by my favorite authors.

For now this world will be released with empty lots. Because I initially made this world as a ‘sandbox’ for all the ideas I had for community lots and houses, some of the lot sizes will be particularly made to fit the idea I have for that lot, which may not be perfect for everyone. To see which lots I have planned for this world, and to get a better idea of the layout, take a look at this post.
Spawners: There are various spawners included in this world, but not all of them (I did not include any gems or rocks). You will have to place the remaining spawners on lots, should you need them. These spawners are included: Ocean fish (common 1, common 2, uncommon 1, uncommon 2 and rare), Butterflies (low 1, low 2, medium 1, medium 2, high 1, high 2, epic and moths), Beetles (ladybugs, lightning bugs and roaches), Will-O’-The-Wisp, Sea Sludge, Spider and Termite. Wild life and strays should spawn regardless of any placed spawners.
Pemberton: Some information on Pemberton as an ongoing project. I started creating this world a little bit over a year ago. I was never quite content with any of the EAmade or custom worlds, I just always instantly find the need to improve and customize, instead of just playing in it, no matter how high quality they are. I knew that if I wanted this world to be completely mine I would have to build and decorate every single lot as well. This of course is a much bigger project than simply shaping the world, as a single lot usually takes me several days to complete. I have updated the Pemberton page with a numbered map, where you can see all the community lots I have planned.
