Fall 2010 Program Guide

From the Director’s Desk

Hello Lumberjacks! As you will find in this Campus Recreation program guide, we are all about looking for ways to empower yourself. This theme also rings true for me, as I have just joined the Stephen F. Austin family as the Director of Campus Recreation. You could say I’m still a kid at heart – I love to live life adventurously, hence why I have been involved in recreation for the last 18 years. This is what I do, it’s in my blood and I love the career path I have taken. I hope to bring some new ideas, a fresh perspective, and a willingness to learn as well. I am big on professional development, collaboration, and being on the cutting edge of whatever trends are out there. I hope that I can build upon that solid foundation and help Campus Recreation and SFA reach even higher. I’m excited to be a part of the SFA and Campus Recreation community for many reasons, but mostly because this is a place that is doing things with student service as their primary focus and I’m ready to explore new ways to benefit this department and university. Sincerely, Ken Morton - Director of Campus Recreation

Member Services

• You can purchase a membership for as little as one month or as many months at a time as you wish. Membership costs must be paid in full when signing up, unless signed up for payroll deduction. • Any member who chooses to cancel their membership is entitled to a refund of the remaining months left on their membership. To receive a $15 reimbursement for the month you cancel, you must cancel on/before the 15th of that month. Any cancellations after the 15th of the month will not be reimbursed for that month. All cancellations must be made in writing. • Payroll deduction is only available for employees (and their families) who receive a paycheck from SFA all 12 months of the year. Your paycheck will be deducted on a monthly basis until you terminate your membership. Payroll deduction cancellations must occur before the last week of

the month to avoid a deduction for the next month. • Members who are paying through payroll deduction must pay their first month up front. After the first month, payments for membership will be taken directly from their paychecks. The first month payment will be $30 until after the 15th of each month, where it will be prorated to $15 until the end of the month. • Students taking only online classes have their Student Recreation Center Fee waived by the University; therefore, they must purchase a “Student” membership for access to the Student Recreation Center. Students who enroll in classes but withdraw later from the university will be denied access to the Student Recreation Center.
