WELCOME TO FALL! Bucket list anyone? In the first few months of my new job here as Director, several students have told me that some of our classes are on their bucket lists: Wine and Food Pairing, Pueblo Style Loom Beading and the upcoming Greece trip are a few examples. Our goal is that you find opportunities for wonderful experiences in these pages. This fall schedule is packed with outdoor adventures 9,000 feet up in the golden aspens or more grounded in SFCC’s kitchens making holiday cookies and gingerbread houses with your kids. Whether you want to build new computer skills, plan your spring garden, make your own jewelry or be transported to Puerto Rico through cooking, I hope you are excited by our offerings and choose to enroll in a class today. Don’t wait — many of our summer classes filled up in days. I will be listening to you. Let me know what’s on your bucket list — or just what you want more of — we’ll be happy to add it.

Developed by yoga master B.K.S. Iyengar more than 60 years ago, Iyengar yoga promotes strength, flexibility, endurance and balance through coordinated breathing and poses that require precise body alignment. Equipment like blankets, straps and blocks help the less flexible and also distinguishes Iyengar from other types of yoga. Although Iyengar incorporates the traditional postures, or asanas, that make up the broader category of hatha yoga, the props revolutionized yoga by enabling everyone — even the elderly, sick, and disabled, to practice. Because of its slow pace, attention to detail, and use of props, Iyengar yoga can be especially good if you’re recovering from an injury. No class Nov 26.
