Move over “Project Runway.” One out of five teens wants to be a fashion designer, but how do you get started? Learn about the fashion industry, learn to sketch clothing designs and sew a simple garment. Kids Computers NEW! Computer Video Game Design for Kids (Ages 9 to 16) Have you ever wanted to design a game? Do you have that creative spark for making a game challenging and fun to play? Then this is the class for you. From the history of games to designing characters, developing a story line to basic motion and effects, this is an information-packed, fun-filled, intensive one-day workshop for aspiring game designers. Beginning Robot Building (Ages 8 to12) Robots are just the beginning! This introduction to robotics and robot building is suitable for all levels of experience. Robotics Engineering Experience (Ages 10 to 17) This introduction to programming of RC (Radio Controlled) components and basic power tools sets the stage for an exciting team robot competition. Gain an understanding of the Engineering Design Process with your team to come up with the best solution to real problems – then test and tweak your ideas. An overview of 3-D drawing techniques in DSS Solidworks is included. Write an engineering manual, and learn important lessons in marketing and project management. You will be given opportunities to design robot parts using Solidworks and to learn from experienced Solidworks students. NEW! Filmmaking and Digital Storytelling (Ages 13 to 17) Littleglobe Transmedia Founder Chris Jonas leads students in making film self-portraits. You will explore basic skills in camera operations, using professional equipment and your own smart phone, in-camera animation, story-building, audio, interviewing and post-production and editing. Each student will need to bring a smart phone with video capability, a USB cable to capture video footage and start digitally editing your film, and a USB thumb drive (32GB minimum).
