SANTA FE HIGHER EDUCATION CENTER
Santa Fe Higher Education Center
Three New Mexico institutions have joined with Santa Fe Community College to form the Santa Fe Higher Education Center. You can study in one of more than 20 major areas offered by the Institute of American Indian Arts, New Mexico Highlands University and the University of New Mexico.
Complete your first two years with SFCC, then transfer to the Higher Education Center. You’ll save money, and convenient online, evening and weekend classes allow you to fit your degree plan into your life.
Q & A About the HEC Q: Can the admissions and advising process for all the colleges be done in one location?
Q: Will all my classes be held in the Higher Education Center at SFCC?
A: Yes, each institution has staff located at the HEC on the lower level of the West Wing on the SFCC campus. Advisers are happy to see you by appointment, or you can drop by to see the facilities and ask questions anytime during normal business hours during the week.
A: All of the Highlands University classes are offered on site at the HEC. Classes in the IAIA program are on the Institute’s campus nearby. UNM’s classes are online.
Q: Will all my SFCC credits transfer to the programs in the Higher Education Center?
A: Yes, your financial aid will come through the university you choose.
A: Yes, in the majority of cases, if you choose to attend any of the programs under the HEC, your SFCC credits will transfer seamlessly. SFCC and Highlands, UNM and IAIA have made articulation agreements to ensure students who complete certain associate degrees with the Community College will be able to complete bachelor’s degrees by enrolling in comparable programs through the Higher Education Center.
Summer/Fall 2012 I SFHEC Schedule of Classes
Q: Is Financial Aid available through the Higher Education Center?
Q: What does tuition cost? A: Each institution charges its regular tuition. When you are registered as an SFCC student, you pay $39.50 per credit hour as an in-district student. When you transfer to Highlands, UNM or IAIA, you will be under the rate structure for that individual institution.
