Writing as a process and writing as a product are sometimes clearly distinguished, and sometimes they become confused. These two aspects are studied by various domains: Cognitive Psychology, Text Genetics, and Anthropology are interested in writing as a process, which is analyzed through different angles; Discourse Analysis or Text Analysis are concerned by the product, i.e. the written text or discourse. One possibility to grasp the process/product interface may sought to confront disciplines and to mix methodologies in order to verify to what extent the data that are provided by the study of the process are relevant to linguistic and interpretive approaches interested in the functioning of the text as a product, and vice-versa. Cross-disciplinary issues have been formulated in recent years from various theoretical standpoints, and a number of works question the relationship between both aspects, or attempt to establishing a clear link between them. The pragmatics of writing developed in Perrin (2003) perfectly illustrates complex approaches to writing, by connecting the explicit or supposed communicative intentions with the writing strategies observed in situ. In terms of either a complex longitudinal path or a dynamics falling within temporal constraints (the real-time of writing, for example) and revealing the way the text is shaped, the process implies various dimensions such as: • the context of production (social, cultural, historical, physical); • the writing practices articulated to the socio-cognitive habits - domains such as the Literacy and the anthropology of writing contribute to the description of these practices and help anchoring writing within contexts that need additional interpretation (Barton & Papen 2010, Fraenkel 2007); • the steps of the writing process, like composition and revision, for instance (Fuchs et al. 1987); • the mental operations stipulated by cognitive psychologists (see Alamargot and Chanquoy 2001, for a review); • the "real-time" process, recorded by key-stroke logging programs (like Inputlog, see Leijten & Van Waes 2006), etc. Two fundamental questions seem to underpin the process and product articulation. The first one is about interpretation, where the writing process is ascribed an explicative potential. The second one is about the constraints - which also have an explicative power, although their main scope seems to be grasping the complexity of the writing activity through the temporal, textual, memorial, visual, neurocognitive, etc., dimensions (cf. Olive et al. 2008, Plane et al.
