About Us... Don and I have been partners in business and life for over thirty years. For the last twenty-two of those years, we’ve made product we love in a beautiful home-based studio on Saltspring Island, British Columbia. And this year, more than ever, we are counting our lucky stars for the incredible team of people who continue to make Cedar Mountain a company that inspires, not only us, but also thousands of customers all across North America. From our vintage-inspired line of wooden postcards and wooden gift tags to our unique plaster and wood wall art, Cedar Mountain strives to produce beautiful hand-made goods that entertain and delight. We are particularly excited about our new Timber Art line, which showcases evocative imagery on long cedar planks. You will also notice new styles in all our existing product lines, where we continue to collaborate with talented artists to produce one-of-a-kind images. Each artist brings her own sensibility to the design process. From Amy’s soulful artwork, to Kate’s sophisticated designs and Karen’s whimsical imagery, there is something for everyone. Each Lost + Found art block is hand crafted using traditional plastering techniques applied in multiple layers over wood. Every art block is individually produced, enhancing its one of a kind uniqueness while creating an overall vintage appearance. Amy Melious explores beyond the boundaries of photography in her artwork by blending traditional and digital photographic techniques. Using her own original photographs, collected ephemera, and vintage imagery, she enjoys creating windows onto worlds that invite overlapping sensations of curiosity, memory, awe, ephiphany, and always a reverence of beauty. Beginning with traditional black and white photography over thirty years ago, Amy has been following the creative muse where it leads ever since. She sees new beauty arrive every day, bearing gifts that keep her constantly inspired, fascinated and grateful throughout the years in her chosen livelihood. Amy lives on Salt Spring Island. She loves family, nature, travel, cooking, languages, poetry, walking, and paddling in her canoe “The Mary Oliver”.
Karen Clemson has been painting, drawing, doodling, gluing, snipping, playing music, and dancing ever since her childhood. Karen grew up in a rural landscape where she was heavily influenced by nature’s paintbrush, creating the foundation for her artistic methodology. Combining the inner realms of her whimsical dreamscape with the many faces of the natural world, Karen’s work elicits enchanting and provocative imagery. Employing a variety of mediums, she harmonizes artistic styles that have evolved from her background training in graphic & web design. Karen resides on Salt Spring Island with her husband and 2 dogs. She enjoys the simple life and an array of outdoor activities.
