The Shy Mirror

The mirror sees all, but is too timid to tell anyone. She recognizes the scared faces gazing through her, And sheds tears of sorrow, for she cannot help them. She knows that she is the one tearing them down, But she is naked and trapped, and cannot move by herself. The mirror looks right back into the people’s eyes, And tries her best to satisfy their need for validation. She sees all their imperfections, and points them out. Although she is shy, she loves to be looked at.
