Spring Rebirth

Leila Rodriguez

Everything has changed, The hole in my heart seemed bigger today. My last words were see you tomorrow. Tomorrow’s today and I haven’t seen you. To be completely honest, I’ve known nothing lasts forever. I learned that last October when I had to say goodbye to my dog. A few months ago when I left my home to a new place, where I met you. Six years ago when my grandfather turned to a memory. All the final words were too much for me. I turned to nature and looked at you as my family. I’ve come to feel a deeper connection to you, Earth, Than I have with most people at least. I swear I told you not to leave, I water for you, Care for you, and I love for you. You have provided so much, I wish humans would treat you with the kindness you have shown me. I know nothing lasts forever but I hope you will be my eternity.
