Dear Parents It gives me tremendous pleasure to write to you all in this first edition of our new style newsletter. We are extremely grateful to C3 Imaging for their very generous support in its production. I am also grateful to the team of pupil reporters (and staff) who have worked very hard to gather all of the information together. It has required real team work, initiative and organisation on the part of all those involved and I hope that everyone who reads the newsletter finds it both interesting and informative. The newsletter is a real example of how we are moving forwards with the benefit of our specialist status. The new style of newsletter coincides with the season of Advent – the official start of the church’s new year. This is the time when we look forward to celebrating the birth of Jesus. Advent is also a time for reflecting on what Jesus wants each of us to do in our world to make it a better place, a time to remember that He was born into a normal family who had little in the way of luxuries. This year it’s a time to reflect on the impact which the Make Poverty History campaign has had and how much more work there is to do to help those in need in other countries. Let us make Christmas this year not only a time for celebration within our own families, but also a time to think and pray for those less fortunate than we are, wherever they are. On behalf of all the governors, staff and students of the College I wish you a happy and holy Christmas within your families and a peaceful new year. L D Rippon Headteacher
