SCC SQUASH SECTION IN SUPPORT OF SINGAPORE SQUASH

The Kallang Squash Centre is expected to be torn down by next year to make way for the Kallang Alive Project. The Kallang Squash Centre is and has been the training venue for the Singapore National Squash Team and the primary location in Singapore for squash tournaments and matches. Besides being the best public facility for squash and the only respectable public facility that can host international competitions, the Kallang Squash Centre holds many fond memories for generations of squash players since its inception in 1978. Many of our SCC Squash Section players are active members of the squash community in Singapore and are passionate about the sport and local squash. The Section is doing our part to support the advancement of Singapore squash in this time. The Singapore Squash Rackets Association (SSRA) is intending to hold a Squash Fundraising Ball and the SCC Squash Section Members have purchased three tables for the night, with tickets sales going towards the development of local squash infrastructure and promotion efforts. A fundraising event was organized by Ultimate Squashers at the Kallang Squash Centre with a “donate-to-play” concept, where donors could play matches against Singapore’s national players. Amongst the national players were SCC Squash Section members.

SQUASH/TENNIS SOCIAL

The players from the SCC Squash Section and Tennis Section got together for an inaugural Squash / Tennis Social. Prior experience in either sport was not necessary, and a good number of players signed up from both Sections. It was a good opportunity for players from the Squash and Tennis Sections to mingle and to have a chance to play (or for some, to learn) another racquet sport. Players were all smiles throughout the afternoon and had ball sense in droves where sometimes proper technique failed.
