a robust middle school Students enter sixth grade with exciting new independence, and they leave Middle School with the confidence they need to be sucessful in High School. Classrooms in Middle School are characterized by both individuality and community, and students are engaged in active learning. If you stepped into a classroom, you might find them re-enacting a novel they just completed, or you’ll see hands-on practice of math skills and experimentation in science class. Students participate in a teambuilding and leadership retreat to develop the skills they need in life. During their Middle School years, students develop self-respect and respect for others. Guided by supportive faculty, students develop the ability to analyze in greater depth, preparing them for high school studies.

fine arts a universal language A form of self-expression, fine arts flourish at St. George’s. Students have ample opportunities for creativity and imagination, are empowered to discover their talents, and share them with the world. The Fine Arts program offers courses in music, drama, and visual arts. Programs range from Orff Instruments for the youngest students; to bucket drums, guitars, and ukeleles for our middle school students; and Fine Arts Clubs for High School students. The art studio is equipped with a ceramics kiln, several pottery wheels, a vast artist workspace and student-displayed artwork.

The academic program is intentionally challenging, yet nurturing, as students discover their unique skills and talents. As students learn more about themselves and find their niche, they begin to understand the value they bring to the world, and the payoff is the passion gained from learning. Students are engaged in active learning both inside and outside of the classroom, often with alumni and community partners who come into the classroom to teach in their area of expertise. Students also go outside the classroom to learn from real-life experiences. Every student doesn’t have the same academic goals, and each student can find a place at St. George’s. From the student choosing the most rigorous AP courses to the student who would benefit from further academic support, St. George’s values each student individually. Our Learning Enrichment Center, where tutoring is available for every age and every subject, is available for students that need extra help in a one-on-one format.

serve with respect Students serve each other, they serve the school community, and they serve the world. Student explore the world and make it a better place. Service programs are linked to leadership, and older students routinely set examples in the classroom for the younger students. While each Thursday morning is a designated chapel time for service projects, students are enouraged to look beyond the St. George’s campus to find other ways to give back. From serving at the Salvation Army to collecting diapers for a local pregnancy center, students are empowered to examine their own interests to serve others. By doing this, students learn an important lesson - that the world needs this generation to make it a better place.

A beloved arts tradition is the annual school-wide musical. Students from all grades participate on and off stage to make this production a highlight of the year. Excitement builds throughout the year for this annual event. The end results? An auditorium filled with supportive friends and family, and a sense of accomplishment for the students who worked so hard to make it a success.

live with purpose “It’s not enough to have lived. We should be determined to live for something.” - Winston Churchill Students work diligently and purposefully in the classroom, and they develop purposeful relationships with their peers. Through their interests and passions, they make a difference in the world.

lead with integrity Beyond the fundamentals of a traditional education, students in the 21st centruy need to have a set a skills to be successful. Students are taught at an early age how to lead with integrity through their community service initiatives, the educational surroundings, and the school’s core values. High School students participate in our signature LEADS program, designed to give students the empowerment to choose the focus of their leadership training based on their own interests. The LEADS program allows students to collaborate through project-based learning, where students align their personal interests to create meaningful outcomes for both the student and the community. Students begin their freshman year in High School with Leadership talks, a series of discussions about leadership, and then take what they have learned into the community. By their senior year, students will create their own service project as a Senior Capstone Project.

ATHLETICS An opportunity to play is an opportunity to learn. Physical activity is a part of the daily routine at St. George’s. In the early years, recess and PE provide an avenue for physical activity. Competitve basketball and cheerleading begin in the 5th grade, and by high school, students can participate in an increasing number of athletics. While some students play competitively, all students learn the value of concentration, self-discipline, and teamwork through our athletics program.
