2020-2021 Annual Report
Dear St. George’s Family,
From the Head of School
Reflecting upon my first few months at St. George’s, I am thankful that what might have begun as a time of uncertainty has quickly evolved into feelings of confidence, growth, and joy. It has been affirming to witness the school family joining together to celebrate a meaningful Opening Day Convocation, the return of daily in-person chapels for all grades, and especially the wonderful Celebration Chapels on Fridays. Additionally, important events such as Curriculum Nights were able to resume for all grades where parents could actually attend this year. The school has demonstrated its adaptability under our mitigation strategy with increased time outdoors, including outdoor classes and off-campus retreats that are being enjoyed by the students, with more planned. In short, we are seeking and increasingly finding opportunities for safe and meaningful activities, and we are striving daily to be better, accomplish more, and fulfill our purpose-driven mission. The challenges faced last year notwithstanding, the successes, milestones, and generosity that occurred spoke volumes to the character of this school and its people. Examples included the dedication of the Upson Family Soccer Complex, made possible through the generosity of the Upson family. Annual celebrations like the Halloween Parade at Milner Park and the Thanksgiving Feast still took place. The Christmas Pageant and other important chapel events had to be viewed remotely, but they were nonetheless very important and meaningful to our student body. Community service opportunities were eagerly accepted. Our Sporting Clays and Girls Soccer teams earned impressive state championships. The list goes on and on. What might be the most impressive and encouraging single fact about last year dealt with the school’s financial health. Even with the obstacles and sometime disappointment brought about by COVID-19, the Annual Giving total was the highest in the history of the school, exceeding $165,000. That is a bold statement affirming the commitment to the school and the optimism it generates! I know of few other independent schools our size that can claim that level of support from their families, alumni, and friends. I eagerly look forward to both the continuing and new successes I am confident will mark the 2021-22 school year. I have little doubt that together we can make this year the greatest in the history of St. George’s. Most importantly, we thank our parents for continuing to entrust us with your most precious blessings…...your children. Go Dragons! Jack Milne Head of School

Students complete various projects throughout the year, some of which are on campus and other projects are within the community. Students use the time set aside each week develop their leadership skill potential.
