"I have loved this experience." -Constance Potter
"I have enjoyed helping Mrs. Jill teach the kindergarten class. At this grade level, the students are learning colors, numbers, animals, and basic greetings. The kids are a lot of fun to be around and always seem so eager to learn new things. Throughout the holidays, we did holiday-themed songs

It has been a good learning experience because it has taught me a lot about early childhood learning and teaching." - Constance Potter 10th grade student DRAGON WINGS | PAGE 2
"This year’s 6th-grade class has a lot of energy and enthusiasm that we love and cherish. They never hesitate to dive deeper into a topic they are interested in and their curiosity is boundless. We’ve been able to provide them with a strong foundation in Spanish. Being able to connect well with the students is one of the best parts of being their teachers and getting to know them helps us teach them more effectively. We have lots of fun every week and occasionally play games such as “Spanish kick-ball" or Quizlet Live. Being students in an AP Spanish class, we often overlook the things we were taught early on in our exposure to Spanish. The opportunity to teach the 6th graders helps us just as much as them. Being able to go back and remind ourselves of the fundamentals that we so often overlook helps us improve our Spanish speaking capabilities and reminds us of our own beginnings. We hope that someday these 6th graders will learn to love Spanish just as we do, but until then we will just keep making Spanish fun as best as we can." -Ben Cross and Will Mulder 12th grade students

New Class Profile: Intro to Health Occupations TAUGHT BY ASHLEY CORMIER
Introduction to Health Occupations is a new class offered at St. George's this year. Students learn about careers in healthcare, with content based on a field-of-interest survey given to students at the beginning of the semester. Students not only learn about nursing and physicians, but they spend time covering the lesser known careers in the medical field. During the course, students practice starting IVs, placing intraosseus access, and intubating adult and neonate mannequins. They also learn how to take blood pressure and determine the locations of pulses. By the end of the semester, students become certified in CPR and first aid.
"My intro to Health Occupations class makes me excited to go to class. We have lots of guests speakers which makes the class super interesting. It has provided me with lots of insight about many jobs in the medical field that I never would have known without taking this class. We have done many hands-on activities and even got CPR certified! If I could give any advice to students that are interested in the medical field, it would be to take this class."
Ashley Cormier teaches in a style that engages students, allows them to learn with hands-on application and field experiences, and she has a passion for helping students discover opportunities that they did not previously know existed in the health occupations field. She has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and has been a Registered Nurse for eighteen years, spending much of her time in critical care in a level one trauma center ER. She has four children who all attend SGES.

"My Intro to Health Occupations was by far my favorite class this semester. Mrs. Cormier connected us with several different people in the medical field throughout the semester. She kept the class interesting all semester and helped me narrow down the career paths I might want to pursue in the future."- Gracyn Fuller DRAGON WINGS | PAGE 3
WINTER 2022
Chapel "Glory to God whose power working in us can do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine. Glory to Him from generation to generation in the church and in Christ Jesus forever and ever. Amen." Chapel is at the heart of the mission of St. George's Episcopal School.....to learn with passion, serve with respect, live with purpose, and lead with integrity. Students are given an opportunity to share with the wider school community who they are, what they believe, and what life lessons they have learned through our Chapel Talk program for eighth-grade students. Middle School students also lead in chapel everyday. They serve as acolytes, readers, lectors, and musicians. During the advent season, younger students were given the opportunity to serve by processing in with elements of the nativity scene. Chapel Coordinator, Mrs. Kristan LaFon, works with students each day to offer guidance and encouragement to students who participate in leading chapel. Students practice reading Scripture, lighting the candles, and are given instruction on the particular vestments -- and why they are used. Students learn and lead in significant ways when they participate in Chapel.
Students are able to contribute to Chapel in meaningful ways and develop their leadership skills.

Grinch Day
Chapel was completely disrupted when THE GRINCH appeared! Students had a roaring time screaming "Merry Christmas" to get him out of the school.
Gingerbread House Day
The annual Gingerbread House day did not disappoint! Students gathered together to create masterpieces out of icing and candy, and they enjoyed the fellowship of one another - complete with Christmas music blaring in the background!
Lessons and Carols The SGES community gathered for the annual service of lessons and carols. It was a beautiful evening of Scripture, songs, and candlelight. It ended with a rousing rendition of "Children, go where I send Thee"!
Early Childhood Christmas Pageant The joy of Christmas was felt throughout the Early Childhood Christmas Pageant! The story of the birth of Christ, as told by our youngest students, brought delight to everyone! DRAGON WINGS | PAGE 5
