High Perfomance Cultivator Kverneland introduces a new generation of cultivators dedicated for soil working from 3 to 15cm deep. The 5 rows of tines allow stubble cultivation in all kinds of crops (wheat, barley, oil seed rape, sunflower, maize, etc.), at first pass or second pass, but also for doing seedbed preparation or working after slurry/manure. The high beam clearance of 700mm prevents from blockages in most of conditions. The Turbo tine has a very high flexibility that creates an intensive mixing at shallow depth. The Kverneland Turbo is available in working widths of 6.5 and 8m. Transport width 3.0m.

Turbo The Philosophy

Lots of farms are now working less than 15cm deep for most of operations like seedbed preparation, first and second stubbling operations. Deeper operations are then performed by chisel cultivators or subsoilers. It means that the most used machines on the farm are the ones working shallow up to 15 cm deep. When compact disc harrows find their limits in compacted or uneven soils and creating a pan difficult to destroy at 10cm deep, the Turbo is the alternative machine on the farm for establishing and making cultivation from 3cm to 15cm.

4

Kverneland developed this new generation of cultivator called Turbo

to suit to this demand and by offering a large version from 6,5 to 8m while minimizing the pulling force. The tine pitch of 19 cm allows a full cutting even at shallow depth. The combination of the Flex tine with the double heart share gives an intensive mixing able to promote the germination of weeds for stubbling operation or creating a nice seedbed in front of the seeding operation. The Turbo is definitely the essential versatile machine from spring to autumn for all seedbed and stublling operations in all kind of crops.

Main benefits of the Turbo cultivators

Complete Cutting Perfect mixing Perfect levelling High capacity with high residues Low pulling force Wide range of rollers Little maintenance Versatile: shallow work up to medium Large performance by high speed Stone Protection

Load tests Before the Turbo is launched into the market, it had to pass a whole series of tests to ensure the impeccable quality of the product. It is our major aim to give complete satisfaction to our users: •

•

The machines are designed by highly qualified engineers with expert knowlegde in agricultural engineering. Sophisticated technologies are used for each development such as static load test, finite elements method (FEM) and shake-lifetime tests. Finally the machines are tested in the field under different conditions to confirm that the requirements to all functions and strength are met. 5

Turbo The Frame

3 working zones The Kverneland Turbo has 5 rows of tines to avoid blockages in high residues such as sunflower, oil seed rape, maize, etc… The long distance between the tine rows varies between 510 and 900mm to get the optimum soil flow around the wheels. The tines are followed by levelling tines to close the furrow made by the last rows of Flextines.

 

Robust Frame The frame is a result of a long study made by FEM (Finite Element Method) calculation to optimise the steel over the working width and proposing a strong structure able to resist to tractors up to 450 hp. Different scenarios have been chosen to make sure that it is able to resist even with the most agressive angles while turning and then the tines are supported by box section tube 100x100 to resist to all kind of conditions. The wheel wagon is placed inside the machine to ensure very short headland turns inferior to 10m, but also for always having a positive weight on the drawbar even during in backward operations with the heaviest rollers.

6

The Kverneland Turbo is available with all our active rollers such as Actipack ø560mm, Actiflex ø580mm or Actiring ø540mm, but also the reinforced cage roller ø550mm and the double cage roller ø400mm.

Depth Adjustment

Adjustable load on the drawbar by hydraulic cylinder

Front Depth Adjustment and Load Transfer The front working depth is adjusted by the depth control wheels. The 340/55Ă—16 tyres ensure excellent support in light conditions and make the machine working at the same depth on the 3 sections. The drawbar can be used in floating position, then all the weight is on the front wheels; or a load transfer can be made to tractor by a hydraulic front cylinder (adjusted by spacers) in order to reduce the pulling force.

Rear Depth Control The rear depth control of the Kverneland Turbo is adjusted via the roller equipment. The parallelogram frame concept enables the working depth to be easily adjusted. The levelling tine sections are simultaneously adjusted with the roller, if necessary fine tuning of the levelling tines can also be achieved. The adjustment is centralized by turnbuckle. Therefore all adjustments are simple and user-friendly. 7

Turbo Tine and Shares

 The 4 tines (2x2) located behind the tractor wheels can be adjusted 5 cm deeper than the others to avoid any compacted area.

High vibration and

Two types of shares:

narrow spacing for high crumbling effect The Flextine is benefitting of a high vibration effect: the large coil and the high tine clearance of 700mm gives a high flexibility while ensuring a high vibration to crack the clods. The narrow tine spacing is made for an active crumbling and nice levelling. In addition, the pressure applied on the coil is reduced to extend the life time. 8

55x15mm for deep cultivation, low disturbance, and low fuel consumption. Mainly used to open the soil in spring time

Double heart share 125mm (reversible) for intensive mixing and stubbling action.

Transport

With todays large scale farms spread over wide distances it is often necessary to drive long distances between fields. Therefore the Kverneland Turbo can be lowered for transport for improved handling. The Turbo frame incorporates an hydraulic chassis suspension system as standard. The Turbo also has the option of hydraulic or pneumatic braking systems which allow the machine to meet road transport regulations, especially when travelling at high road speeds that are achievable with todays modern tractors. Quick on the road and quick in the field. The Turbo can easily be converted from transport to work position. The hydraulic transport locking device unlocks automatically when unfolding.

Cross shaft Cat. III or Cat. IV The crosshaft allows an angle of steering lock of up to 180° for an excellent manoeuvrability.

Ball coupling ø80 mm The ball coupling ensures a linkage without any gap and allows to work in hilly conditions up to +/- 30°.

Fix pulling eye ø 50mm It is used to link the Turbo to a fixed hitch.

Please note:  For tractors equipped with twin wheels or wide wheels, the Turbo can have a drawbar extension of 85cm to ensure short turns in headlands.

Hydraulic and pneumatic brakes are available. They are both combined with parking brakes. Homologation at 40km/h in Germany is in progress. 9

Actipack: A second preparation tool! The Kverneland Actipack roller displays its superb working qualities especially on medium to heavy soils. The integrated cutting discs break the larger clods whilst the adjustable knives cut the remaining clods resulting in optimal clod breakdown. The pressure on knives can be set as high as that of the disc to provide equal firming on the entire working width. An “Off“ position allows the knives to be lifted completely to leave a rougher surface and help protect the top layer of soil from capping and erosion.

1

OFF

Actiring: Strong and light! The Actiring roller is a lighter variant of the Actipack, using the same frame structure and knife system. The discs have been replaced by a “V” profile ring, this saves 60kg/m, which is of critical importance for reducing lifting requirements for mounted equipment. This new design will also provide a lower cost alternative to the Actipack especially in lighter soil conditions where the additional features of the Actipack are not required. The wider shallow angel of the V profile is less aggressive than that of the Actipack disc design resulting in a better load carrying in medium to light soil conditions. The springs and knives have been especially designed to prevent stones getting into the rotor and causing blockages.

160kg/m

Actiflex Ø 580mm Kverneland introduces a new generation of roller called the Actiflex, specially designed to match with all types of conditions. Its intensive mixing effect combined with a good recompaction makes this roller the ideal tool for the best volunteer’s regrowth. Its large diameter of 580mm ensures a good driving effect even in light soils. This roller is definitely a good compromise between the weight (160 kg/m) and mixing performances.

Actipack and Actiring: 4 different pressures can be applied on the skids depending of the soil nature and the required finish.
