The legendary Southern Gospel Music quartet, GOLD CITY, recently showcased their newly formed and stellar ministry lineup. With a history of ideal song choices, quintessential talent and overall industry success, Gold City is one of the most recognizable names and decorated artists in all of gospel music! Based in the Northeast region of Alabama, the group has featured many SoGo icons. These names include Brian Free, Ivan Parker, Mark Trammell, Jonathan Wilburn, Mike LeFevre and of course, the unparalleled bass vocals of Tim Riley.
The Mississippi-based Christianairs group was renamed Gold City in Dahlonega, Georgia at midnight on New Year’s Day in 1980. During October 1981, the group appeared on the main stage of the National Quartet Convention. Taking that NQC stage was tenor Bob Oliver, lead Jerry Ritchie, baritone Ken Trussell and bass Tim Riley. Pianist Garry Jones joined the
group one month prior to convention. Following the death of owner, Floyd Beck, the managerial reins were handed to Tim Riley. Shortly thereafter, the group relocated their home base to Gadsden, AL. In 2014, Tim Riley made the choice to leave full time ministry, after suffering a stroke. Prior to that, he had already ensured that the group would be in good hands. Danny said, “It’s an honor to be carrying on the tradition set by my father so many years ago. He handed me the management duties in 2004, and I knew I had big shoes to fill. But with God and my dad’s wise advice, we’ve kept going and I am certainly proud to be continuing the legacy of Gold City”.
On Tuesday evening October 11th, 2022, Gold City provided an intimate “by invitation only” dinner and concert. Family, close friends, promoters, deejays and industry associates were invited for the first glimpse of this new powerhouse team. The event was live
streamed, and several thousand fans were able to join the fun, virtually. The anticipation and excitement simply flowed throughout the entire event. The room was filled with smiles, raised hands and a complete positive energy. The food, decorations, fellowship and venue, was simply exceptional. Bill Bailey and Josh Franks introduced each member, as they humbly and excitedly approached the platform. Members include Danny Riley on baritone, Chris West on bass, Bruce Taliaferro on lead, Chris Jenkins on tenor and Terry Wooten on piano. Danny Riley stated, “I’m thrilled with what God has put together here. When it became evident that we would be making some changes, I had a vision of what I wanted this group to be and sound like. Our entire team prayed for the right men to come to Gold City, and I feel like God has answered our prayers in some overwhelmingly great ways”.
Dillan West serves as the road/sound manager. Russell Wise serves as full time bus driver and band bass guitarist. Chris Williams is unparalleled on drums. The Band of Gold is simply part of the Gold City heritage and will be performing at several upcoming events. Their office administrator is Barbara Huffman, well-known songwriter.
Each time their bus heads out, a new energy seems to evolve. Leaving those they love behind each week is not easy on the heart. Gratefully, this group has such a mighty support team! They truly are a road family and have such brotherly and Christ-like love. Renewal and passion is evident.
Dillan West feels blessed that he has been with Gold City for over 7 years. He shared three words on the new lineup, “I think immediately energy, excitement and power. They are fun to watch. I catch myself sitting out there remembering I have a job to do – because I get caught up in just watching and listening to them. It’s a stage presence that is different from anything I’ve personally seen before. I can honestly say it’s been an honor not to just be a part of GC, but to work for Danny Riley. He’s one of the finest men I’ve ever known. He’d give you the shirt off his back if it meant helping someone else. Hopefully, we can make our own mark in the legacy of the Gold City name”.
Chris Jenkins is no stranger to gospel music. His vocal wisdom and musical abilities are exemplary! His tenor delivery resonates with audiences of all ages. He is such a gentle and kind man. He be-
came an instantaneous brother on the bus. His first introduction to gospel music was when his grandfather took him to a Gold City concert. Chris was immediately hooked and began buying their albums all on his own by the time he was 8 years old. He was captivated when his grandfather took him to the lobby to meet Tim Riley. Since that very young age, he has dreamt of being part of Gold City. Chris loves these lyrics from the song One Scarred Hand, penned by Kyla Rowland. “And when I can’t stand, I have to lean. And when I can’t see, I must believe”.
Bruce Taliaferro is so extremely talented. His dynamic and compelling lead vocals are delivered with such clarity and emotion. His return to this Gold City road ministry has been paramount. The members missed his laughter and humor. His testimony is stronger than ever. Bruce shared, “After taking a little time away, I’m so excited to be back out on the road with all the guys. I am looking forward to this new chapter God has prepared for Gold City. I am honored to be part of it all. Thank you for your prayers and support as we embark on this new journey”.
Terry Wooten has quickly become a great addition to the Gold City family. He is an encourager, prayer warrior, hard worker, team player and the GC pianist. Terry loves this group of men and remains earnestly grateful for this opportunity. He loves talking about music with his three sons. When Terry feels down, these song lyrics come to mind and breathes a breath of revival into his weary soul.
“Old Satan has power and sometimes I’m weak. At times I give up and he walks over me. Then someone comes by with the words loud and strong. Arise by child, it is I, and I’m still on the throne”.
Chris West rumbles an arena with his strong and impressive bass tones. Fans everywhere patiently await his enthusiastic and ridiculously awesome vocals. Tim Riley hand-picked Chris and without a doubt, made the perfect choice. Chris is a friend to many and has a plethora of GC memories. One of his favorite memories is when the group traveled to Brazil. Sharing the gospel in other countries is such a blessing and an opportunity to extend their music ministry. Chris’s favorite scripture is Ephesians 3:20 – Now unto him that is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.
Russell Wise is celebrating 45 years in gospel music. He and Danny have been friends for numerous years, both hailing from Gadsden, AL. Russell assumes his driving position with great responsibility. He has been driving buses and out on the road for 43 years. He has experienced two firsts since joining Gold City. One, he hit a deer and the bus won. Two, the driver’s side steer wheel blew. Gratefully, because of his years of training and quick thinking, he was able to safely stop the bus. He loves to meet the promoters and do a few “Go Lives” during concerts. Russell looks forward to each time the band hits the stage. This music is in his blood. Russell said, “I have witnessed this group of men praying before taking the platform and I have heard their testimonies. I am grateful to be surrounded by those that keep each other encouraged”.
Chris Williams loves band dates. He is a great musician and supporter of this great music. His first memory of Gold City was when the group visited his hometown. The group was performing on a flatbed trailer. As a young man, Chris’s point of view was looking up into the sun and trying to catch just a glimpse of a booming bass voice and an unreal high tenor. He could only see the drummer, which was Doug Riley. He was the first Christian music influential drummer Chris had. When the group finished, Doug came down and shook his hand. From that moment, Chris knew exactly what he wanted. That day he told his mom and dad he wanted to play drums. He has followed in Doug’s footsteps and in Chris’s own words; “It is the most fun I have ever had but also the most pressure I’ve ever had as a musician. I understand the legacy I try to uphold every night on stage with Gold City.” When playing with the band, he has a custommade bass drumhead that says – GC Band of Gold, in memory of Doug Riley.
Barbara Huffman is such a vital part of this organization. She has been working with Gold City for over 10 years and absolutely loves every milestone. Barbara stated, “Danny Riley is an incredible boss. He has a heart for ministry and has been a great example of steadfastness through a lot of adversity the past few years. His decisions are made with much prayer, and he takes care of every person on his team. All the men on that bus are like brothers to me, and I’m happy to be part of what they’re doing”. Barbara believes that this current team, assembled by God for this season, is one of the best yet! She joins a multitude of Gold City supporters and fans knowing and believing that even after 43 years in ministry, GC is still as relevant as ever. They continue making great
life-changing music.
Danny Riley is simply one of the most compassionate mentors traveling the ministry highway. His desire is to encourage the broken and see the lost enter a relationship with Jesus Christ. This is his prayer every single time Gold City takes the stage. One of Danny’s favorite lyrics is from a song he has sung for over 25 years, It’s Still The Cross. “…It’s still the name of Jesus that has power to save the lost, it’s still the cross.. Knowing I don’t have to do a thing but believe, repent and accept Jesus as my Savior is freedom to me”.
Without a doubt, the legacy of Gold City is in great hands. The future is bright, and this stalwart group of men will diligently continue spreading the gospel. God’s word is needed now more than ever and carrying this historic torch is a great responsibility. Southern gospel music showcases some of the greatest musical talents in the world. With God at the helm, preserving this music heritage is imperative. The words of these timely songs speak of His love, His tender mercies and His grace. A message that can change the hearts of all mankind.

In a small West Virginia town, Harold Lane was bitten by the gospel music quartet bug. Being involved in church, music came naturally to this quiet, unassuming music student. But his love of God, music and innovation carried him to the pinnacle of gospel music circles.
After being discharged from military service, Harold Lane was a band director at Wayne High School in Wayne, West Virginia. There he helped organize a quartet that went on to become gospel music innovators, the Gospel Harmony Boys. Lane rose to prominence as the leading founder of the Gospel Harmony Boys in 1952.
Lane’s musical innovation was complimented by his business acumen. He was instrumental in many firsts for the Gospel Harmony Boys and gospel music in general. In 1953, the GHBs quartet began one of America’s first Gospel Music television shows that played every Sunday for over seventeen years, covering the Tri-state region of West Virginia, Ohio and Kentucky. He introduced gospel music to a national television audience when the Gospel Harmony Boys became the very first gospel quartet to ever appear on a national television network on “The Today Show” with Dave Garroway, in 1956.
The quartet, with Lane, was among the first to promote concerts in the region, garnering a following
from radio, television and personal appearances. Their first recordings were 78 RPM records that were featured on radio stations in the region. Over the years, the Gospel Harmony Boys have remained true to their innovative musical stylings, recording over sixty-five audio and video projects that still carry on those traditions.
Harold left the Gospel Harmony Boys in 1956 to spend a short stint with Conner Hall and the famous Homeland Harmony Quartet, only to return to the GHBs in 1957. It is at this time he began writing gospel songs. Harold left the Gospel Harmony Boys in 1956 to spend a short stint with Conner Hall and the famous Homeland Harmony Quartet, only to return to the GHBs in 1957. It is at this time he began writing gospel songs. In the early stages of his music career, he penned many songs sung by the great quartets of the day including The Statesmen, The Blackwoods, Wally Fowler and the Oak Ridge Quartet and many others.
Some of Harold’s early songs were first featured on early GHBs recordings but appeared on numerous other recordings shortly thereafter. Such songs included “What Joy On That Shore”, “Looking Forward To The Day” and “I’ve Done What The Lord Said Do”.
Yet, Harold Lane is best known as a performer for his 22 years as the tenor vocalist in The Speer Family. In 1967, Harold left the Gospel Harmony Boys and his career as band director at Wayne High School to join the Speer Family replacing the family’s famous patriarch, Dad Speer. Harold became renowned for his arranging while with the Speers. Brock Speer stated “Harold was so good with music. He set us apart in the industry. We would come on with a lot of wild harmony and chords and arrangements. He made us different from everybody else.”
Among the Speer’s recording of Harold’s best known composition , “I’m Standing on the Solid Rock” holds the record for being the Singing News
Magazine’s number one song for the longest period of time. Another of Harold’s great songs, “What Sins Are You Talking About” reached an esteemed level of notoriety as the theme song for a National Network TV show, “The Hitchhiker” during the 1990s. Interestingly, the song was done instrumentally and not widely recognized. Only small segments of the lyric were ever sung during short intervals throughout the show’s series.
Other famous Harold Lane songs reads like a list of top songs and includes, “Touring That City”, “Since I Met The Lord”, “Thank You Lord”, “He Was Willing”, “Joy On That Shore”, “But By Me Saith The Lord”, “God Is Able”, “The Church of The Living God”, “Just Have Faith”, “It Had To Be Love”, “Cast Your Cares on Me”, “It’s So Much Better” “Redeemed”, “the Next Time He Comes”, Brock Speer paid a tremendous tribute to Harold
Lane’s contribution and influence in keeping the Speers going after the deaths of Mom and Dad Speer. Lane’s incredible knack for arranging and bringing fresh, new sounds to the Speers’ music elevated them to super-group status during the late 60’s and continuing through the 70’s and 80’s.
Lane is considered one of the industry’s finest song writers, musicians and arrangers in any decade not only for quartet gospel music but for the church. He also arranged and edited six books of orchestral accompaniment to congregational singing. Lane’s musical ear was not exclusive to the Speers, as he arranged for several of the top groups of the time, including prominent gospel artists as The Florida Boys, The Singing Rambos, Jake Hess, The LeFevres and Bill Gaither.
During this time, “H” as he was known to so many, continued his love of mentoring and developing students of gospel music. He continued his life-long association with the Stamps-Baxter School of Music where he shared his knowledge and insights with young aspiring gospel artists for many years. The artists who had the privilege of working with, know or be mentored by Harold Lane, were not only challenged to push the envelope to improve their performance, but to follow in the footprints of the gospel music’s greats and strive to improve the ministry of gospel music. His love of music caused Harold to write a series of articles for J. G. Whitfield’s Singing News Magazine providing a pedagogical forum to help interested young artists learn the rudiments of music theory.

In June 2011, at the age of 82, Harold Lane began to really experience TOURING THAT CITY. His passing left a void in gospel music in so many ways. His firsthand performance knowledge, orchestra knowledge, music theory and passion have not been matched. Yet the seeds planted by Harold Lane continue to flourish today through is friends, students and the Gospel Harmony Boys.
The Gospel Harmony Boys are carrying on the seventy year tradition. With their new audio release, “For God So Loved,” the quartet has garnered critical praise and attention for their rich harmonies, arrangements and having no fear of pushing their music limits. Fifty year tenor veteran, Clacy Williams says, “We have tried to remain true to the foundation Harold Lane laid in 1952. We feel that commitment deeply to sharing rich quartet harmonies, musical arrangements and to continue the heritage Harold Lane and the other GHB members
I have never read a book by this author but I know it will not be my last. This story takes place in the 1940’s when the Nazis were marching toward Paris. It is not a storyline that I would normally be drawn to but I decided to take a chance and … Oh, what a book! If you love historical fiction, beautifully written Christian works, a suspenseful tale with a nice love story to boot, this is a great read. I fell in love with the main characters along with all the twists and turns. I can’t imagine living through a war and trying to escape to freedom while helping others along the way but that’s just what this author flawlessly unfolded in “Until Leaves Fall in Paris,” I love the faith-filled lives portrayed throughout the book also. Just simply a wonderful read.
Hunter Logan knew from an early age that he wanted to pursue music. His Dad had a band and Hunter grew up in music as a result. By 9 years old, he was playing guitar and hasn't looked backed since.
When Hunter was 28 years old, his pursuit of being a professional musician was underway.
"I was already married with kids before I decided to actually go for it. I never had delusions of grandeur. I just wanted to play music full time."
A self taught multi-instrumentalist, Hunter immersed himself in his passion for music.
"If I had learned to read music, I could have had a job with the '700 Club' at age 14. My absolute dream as a kid was to be a session player in Nashville."
After going through a difficult period in his life, things took a downward spiral for him.
"My parents went through a divorce and that just rocked my world! Unfortunately, I had my eyes on
man and not on God. I just took a completely different path after that. I was a teenager and an only child at the time and none of my friends were dealing with anything like that."
Despite the trials, as he always is, God was faithful and he had a plan for Hunter's life.
While playing for a gospel band named the Arenos, Hunter had a life changing moment from the Lord. "We had stopped at this church to perform and this man there, he didn't know me from anyone, and he prophesied over me saying there would be new songs coming out of me. Sure enough, by four years later, there were a lot of songs coming out of me. I then got nominated for artist of the year by the Inspirational Country Music Association."
As a songwriter, artist, and musician, some songs carry an extra special meaning.
"My song, 'The Prodigal', is actually my testimony. 'The Vessel', I love that song. That's me now. I'm just
whatever he wants. Whatever he needs me to do, I'm going to do it."
During his concerts, Hunter incorporates ministry and comedy.
"If you're coming to one of my shows, you're going to have a good time. Be prepared to laugh and be prepared to be moved as well. I'm going to share my heart. I always want the Holy Spirit to have his way."
In addition to his own music, he would eventually find himself working for a radio station. Afterward, he went on to found multiple radio stations in the christian music genre.
"I didn't start HLE Radio because I love to do radio, it got started because I failed at witnessing one day. I was on a sales call for another radio station I worked for and I could feel the Holy Spirit leading me to witness to these people and I didn't do it. After that I was weeping and knew I had grieved the Holy Spirit. So I told God I needed a way I was comfortable with in telling people about him. HLE Radio was born from that."
He currently owns numerous stations including HLE Radio and Saddle Up Radio. Saddle Up plays christian country music 24 hours a day.
"HLE Radio is aimed more at the unchurched. I had some artists who got upset I wasn't playing them and it was really just a format issue. Their style of christian country wasn't the same style as the artists I was playing on HLE. That's how Saddle Up Radio got it's start. It's christian country aimed more at the church people."
With free phone apps available for his stations, his reach is very wide.
"When I was working for the other station, God was preparing me for this. I didn't know it, but God did. This was the last thing I ever thought I'd be doing. Just tell God what you want to do and he'll send you somewhere else!"
Back during the 1990's, christian country music really started forming with bands like Midsouth and DMB band paving the way. Many christian industry
people expected it would be the next big thing but it hasn't reached that pinnacle to this day.
"Christian country music [as a genre] needs to be built. It needs to be united and then really build it. There's like 3 or 4 factions within it trying to do the same old thing. It doesn't work. If you keep doing the same thing for 30 years and it hasn't worked, it's time to do something else. It just needs to be built. There's no infrastructure to it to sustain it. There's a great fan base for it."
With a reach of over 180 countries, Hunter is taking christian music into areas that may not hear the gospel message otherwise.
"I always take every opportunity I have to speak out against legalism and religion. Those are killers. Once you get a relationship with God, then he's able to open up a whole new world for you. That's how I try to reach out to people every day."
Exodus 17:11-12 (KJV)
"And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed: and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed.
But Moses' hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun."
While in prayer earlier, the Lord reminded me how even through fervent prayer, we often need reinforcements! And it's absolutely alright to call in for backup!
Breaking strongholds isn't easy. Enduring isn't easy. Trying to fight something you know was sent to destroy you, is usually a fierce and lengthy battle!
We don't have to fight alone. We know laying everything at Jesus' Feet, casting all our cares upon Him, releases our burdens. He's with us always. He's fighting for us and even protects us from opposition we cannot see.
We know from Philippians 4:6-7, it says with humble prayer, we make our petition known to Him and we will have His Peace in our hearts and minds.
"Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."
Yet, what about those long, never-ending battles where we must pray with prayer and perseverance?
We know in Daniel chapter 10 how he prayed fervently yet the answer was delayed twenty-one days and the Angel Michael came to assist.
The same concept of assisting others in the natural realm, is very similar to assisting others within the spiritual realm.
The Body of Christ is One, Complete, Body! Working in unison together. Every intricate part fitting and moving like cogs in a clock.
We shouldn't fear, nor hesitate asking for assistance when going to battle nor should the ones assisting hesitate uplifting them when they become weary in battle!
We are human and the Bible mentions several places, about becoming weary in our soul.
Weary doesn't mean weak! It means feeling or showing tiredness. Yes, we can become weary in our soul (mind) when fighting things on a spiritual level.
Being Born-Again, we have the Holy Spirit inside of us, interceding on our behalf. It's still imperative that we pray for one another and uplift each other in spiritual battles.
Some battles require others to hold up our "hands" just as Aaron and Hur did for Moses! And you know what? That's okay!
The story of Creekside for owner Rob Patz really began on a beach in Washington state. “I was praying,” Rob recalled, “and asking God to show me what to do. I wanted to create an event that would help both new and established ministries alike.” Rob had a dream of growing gospel music.
Creekside started off initially, in his mind at least, as a one day event and a place to host the Diamond Awards. However, right there while walking and praying on the beach, God gave him vision of a multiple day event in Pigeon Forge which is now known as Creekside Gospel Music Convention. “It was really cool. During that time while I was walking, God changed my entire vision and laid out the entire event. I went back and wrote everything down,” Rob explained. For the most part, what you see as Creekside is the exact model God gave him that day.
For me, I’ve always said that Creekside is more than just an event – it’s an experience. When I first attended in 2015 as an artist, I wasn’t sure if I fit in. After all, I was a solo artist from Ohio. My music was a little bit different. I didn’t know anyone. I didn’t
even know the old songs they sang during midnight prayer which really reinforced to me the idea that I didn’t fit in. But as I high-tailed it out of midnight prayer just as fast as I could, three artists stopped me and reminded me that I was there for a reason. My ministry has never been the same since.
And as many of you know by now, God had a plan to bring Rob and I together through Creekside. I never dreamed when I walked through the doors in 2015 that when I walked back through the doors a few years later, I would be married to Rob.
God has used Creekside in so many ways for so many different people. So although Rob’s plans for Creekside started on a beach in Washington State, God’s plan for Creekside began well before that and involves things that we have not yet even seen come to pass.
We had another great year at Creekside! If you weren't able to join us this October, we hope that you make plans to be a part of Creekside Gospel Music Convention next year.
For this Beyond the Song article I reached out to the TheHagers.

God Speaks to you, He always keeps His promise.
People will hurt you, lie to you and even break their promise, but God will never do any of that and also when he speaks to you it may not come right then and there but it will come in His time. Always be faithful and true to God.
How did this song minister to you personally?
This song ministered to us because it is part of my testimony.
How did you keep focus and start a ministry during the pandemic?
It all started through prayer and God by trusting His leadership
Right now you have a song out to radio called “When God Speaks.” What's the message in this song?
“When God Speaks” is a song God gave to me in the middle of the night. The message in this song is when
The doctors told me I would never have any children in fact I was scheduled for a hysterectomy. Six months before the surgery, I was told by a man of God that I was going to have a child; well I didn’t believe it because I was told so many time I wouldn’t. Well, twelve days before my surgery I found out I was pregnant and God Blessed me with a wonderful son who is now eight years old. That is where the second part of the song comes in at “we’re up on the mountain when god speaks to us and see not changes and start losing trust.” That was me in that time, but God kept his promise, even when I was losing my faith. We serve a great God.

When thinking about Thanksgiving, and those things I'm thankful for, several things come to mind. Most of all, I'm thankful for salvation through Jesus Christ. His mercy, grace, and forgiveness are present and new every day. There are not enough words to express my gratitude to my Lord. I'm tremendously thankful for my wife. She’s, my hero. Her long suffering, and wonderful grace are just a couple of the many attributes she displays every day. I love her more than I could ever express, or display. Thank you, Babe. I'm thankful for the call God has placed on my life to spread the Gospel of Christ through song. Along with that, I'm thankful for the guys I work with in this labor of love. Thanks gentlemen. There are many more things to be thankful for, but brevity is supposed to be exercised here. Happy Thanksgiving.
Charlie Griffin- Classic Artists Music Group
Thanksgiving is one day set aside to give thanks. Yet this holiday is so much more to be lived every day. So often I take for granted the simple blessings of life. I expect those simple blessings to be there when, in just one swift brush of life things could change. I am thankful for the blessings of life, family and friends. The calling to share the good news and share hope is truly a blessing that motivates me to keep on making Happy Tracks.
Robin Montgomery- The Montgomerys
From our family, we wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving. As we all are reminded of things, we are thankful for during this season, to most of us, our Salvation and our family ranks as #1 and #2, and in that order. Finishing our dates this past weekend, we
By Vonda Armstrongwere reminded of #3 as we had people coming to us with tear filled eyes saying how the Lord had used us to encourage them. Once again, we were reminded that THIS is why we do what we do every weekend. We are Thankful every day! Our prayer would be that God would use us mightily in the days ahead. May our lord richly bless each of you as you seek to serve in the area, he has placed you.

I am thankful that God never gave up on me. I have been blessed more than I deserve. I’m thankful for my wife and children and my three grandchildren. Thankful for the talent that God has blessed me with so that I can go and witness to others through song.

I am content and appreciate his blessings that come to me from just being faithful. Thankful for my wife Juanita my kids Trina Kenneth and molly. Also, my grandkids Lincoln, Silas, Chandler,Charlie, Paislee and Westin. Thankful for mercy on an old sinner saved by grace. Happy Thanksgiving.
Matthew Benton-Pine Ridge Boys lead
I am thankful for being born in a good godly home. Raised by parents who loved me enough to introduce me to church and taught me how to love and respect the House of God. I am thankful for the awesome opportunity to travel the country, proclaiming the gospel through
song. Most importantly, I am so very thankful for the gift of salvation that I received as a 15year-old boy.
Jackson Smith- Pine Ridge Boys baritone Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays, not just because of the food, but because of the family I get to spend it with. I have learned an important lesson over the years that is perfectly captured in one phrase, “Love the People that God Gives You, because one day He’ll want them Back.” Although some of the faces that once sat around our table are now gone, it is still a happy time getting to spend it with those who are the most important to me. I am especially thankful this year for the doors God has opened and for all the many ways he has used myself and the rest of the quartet For His Glory.
GOSPEL HARMONY BOYS
Clacy Williams- Gospel Harmony Boys tenor Thanksgiving has always been a time for the Williams family to be together and celebrate our blessings from God. As a child, it was the day we all pitched in to slaughter hogs and process the meat. It was a day of hard work, but it brought us together to share our love for one another and thank God for the bounty He had provided. And by the way, there is nothing better than freshly cut pork chops fried in my momma’s favorite iron skillet. Mmm… I just made myself hungry.
Scott Brooks -Gospel Harmony Boys lead Thanksgiving always takes me back to sweeter simpler times. One of my brothers would come in for a visit. Precious memories!
Scott Adams- Gospel Harmony Boys- Baritone
I love Thanksgiving! It’s a perfect time for reflection on the many ways in which GOD has blessed us. I am thankful for my lovely wife Tina and my two sons, Morgan and Mason. I am thankful for my job as a school bus driver and for my bus kids who, for the most part, are well behaved and loads of fun to interact with. I am thankful for the blood of JESUS and for my salvation through HIS sacrifice. There are so many ways in which I am blessed. I am truly thankful. Lastly, I am thankful for the opportunity to be a member of such a wonderful ministry as GHB. It is truly a blessing to sing with these guys!
John Snodgrass- Gospel Harmony Boys- 5 th man/baritone
At Thanksgiving time. I always have to go back to the basics… The Word of God is most important in our lives because without it, where would we be? We wouldn’t even know that we needed a savior! And we wouldn’t know about the grace that he gives to each of us, nor the faith that he gives us to accept his gift! As the old song says, “What a precious friend is he….”
Henry Riffe- Gospel Harmony Boys bass
I am thankful for my salvation, family, friends and the GHB. Blessed that I can sing, paint and reach people with the good news. We celebrate one day in Thanksgiving, but in truth it is an everyday experience for those of us who believe. I am truly grateful for life’s everyday blessings.
Jay, Cassie and Cloe- Jay Humphreys Trio Well, this year (2022) has been different than all the previous Thanksgivings for us. Cloe, our youngest daughter, who sings the soprano, was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer in March 2022. Which obviously put us on a journey we had never been on before and was not expecting as she is just 21 years old. Since March she has had two major surgeries, one to remove the thyroid and the second one to remove the cancer that reoccurred. She is cancer free now, however, she will be taking a Radioactive Iodine Pill around Thanksgiving this year. She will need to be quarantined for about one week. I would ask to each of you reading this to keep her in your prayers and “I speak the name of Jesus over you”. As I’m thinking about what I’m thankful for and reflecting on this journey we have been on I can’t help to think of the song we previously recorded, “I Know How to Say Thank you” the words simply say and this truly comes from my heart, “There are times today when angels stood around me and I couldn’t even see. There were times when I was hurting and you stepped in and took the pain from me, there were moments when you stopped me so I could smell the roses by the road. I know how to say thank you Lord.” So, I just want to say THANK YOU LORD for my family and for Your special touch on our daughter. She brings us so much joy. So, with that, take time this Thanksgiving and hug up your family and praise God for the many blessings big and small that He gives you each day. Stop and say THANK YOU LORD!! Happy Thanksgiving from the Jay Humphreys Trio.
Judy, Dot and Sissy- Sounds of Victory
We are most thankful for our Salvation and the privilege of being able to come together as a family and as a trio to sing for His Glory. God has kept us safe on our travels for many years and continues to bless us. We are also thankful for our family and the many friends we have met along this amazing journey.
George,
Frankie
and Sandra- The Sheltons
This year has been a joyous and blessed year for the Sheltons. We are blessed with family and friends that have been with us every step of the way. We have met so many wonderful people in our travels and concerts. This year we count every mile a blessing as we have
seen God touch people through our songs. Since 1959 that has been our mission; to be a blessing with our songs. But today through our songs you bless us with your prayers, support, encouragement and friendship. Thank you!
In addition to their traveling and singing, David and Brenda host a radio program called “Spotlight Tunes” on SOGR radio.
