Step1: Cut wood to desired length.
Step 2: Find the center on both ends
Step 3: bi-sect center and create 2 starting holds equal distance from center on both ends
Step 4: Mount block on lathe using center point on both ends (Center Position)
Note: For multi-axe turning you need speed. I recommend 2000 RPMs for turning and about 1300 for sanding. Step 5: Use a parting tool to select the area for your arch
Step 6: Move the block to position 1
Step 7: Use your favorite tool to rough in your arch. I used a spindle roughing gouge. Stop when the arch gets to about Ÿ inch from center. This should result in roughly a ½ inch section of untoughed wood on the backside of the block as shown in picture 2 below.

Step 8: Rough in the top edges of your arch
Step 9: Switch block to position 2 and rough out the back of the arch
Step 10: Power sand back of arch then move block back to position 2 and power sand front of arch (1200-1400 RPMs seems best for sanding this project)
Step 11: With block mounted in center position create bead at top and bottom of arc. Then use a spindle gouge to trim bottom of arc to cleanly match bead.
Step 12: Turn top and bottom to desired shape
